You can choose a flat area with a known length (e.g. measure the distance on a Google map), and compare it with the distance shown by the wheel. And use this difference as percentage to calibrate the speed. Since the function is linear (rpm to speed), this should work, IMO.
@roadtrip6075
Ай бұрын
The speed difference between wheel and GPS increases as you go faster. Try going 56mph and see what GPS says. It will be a significant difference. GPS has delay of a couple of seconds though as you stated.
@RonnieRides
Ай бұрын
You can easily figure out the average difference and apply that as speed correction in whatever app of choice you are using
@grb1969
Ай бұрын
The percentage difference is constant over the entire speed range, that’s why the “% Correction” is the best way to recalibrate your EUC’s speedometer. This should be calculated using the maximum speed that the rider is comfortable recording both speeds, then programmed for final comparison. This only needs to be done ONCE per every tire change where the diameter of the tire (at - consistent pressure) is constant.
@RonnieRides
Ай бұрын
The speed correction is not going to be useless because it's a set percentage offset that is being misreported and that is what you can correct and make it accurate, also the wheel in question that was claimed to do 70mph have an offset of a whooping +24%. So what you need to do to figure out this offset is to compare an average of gps vs wheel reported speed, this is possible and very easy to do with EUC World logs for example.

We need a wheel speed with 9% correction, like with the Wheellog app this is possible. But with wheel/app speed, if the tire slips or catches air, you will get a higher number.
@matrxreal
Ай бұрын
Why this speed deviation, maybe tire pressure and rider weight is affecting it, so the exact diameter of the wheel is not known to the manufacturer, and so you need to calibrate it to your case
@rerkey
Ай бұрын
You have delay in GPS because it is reading your position every 5sec. Always taking shortest distance between two mesurements. So it is not accurate, if you don't go in super streight line and constant speed. Best way is to have a distance for example in google maps and compare it to distance reported by wheel.

if the wheel is basing itself off of RPM and its off then the faster it goes the more inaccurate it will be. and you are definitely correct, GPS will always lag a few seconds at least. its just a limitation of how GPS calculates and measures things.

My winter ride is a snowmobile. Typically, the speedometer reads 10 mph higher than my Garmin GPS. I feel the manufacturer over estimates speed for better "hype", ie. "My sled's top speed is 110mph!" vs actual speed of 98mph. What gets me though is how accurate the odometer is compared to my GPS, often within 0.1 mile over a 100 mile ride. Clearly, the manufacturer wants you to believe that you have a faster machine than your friends, which equates to better word of mouth, thus more sales.

A few things you can pretty much guarantee from Chinese Products/Brands. 1. The Quality will be cheap, non durable...trash 2. They lie about their specs on the products. All EUC Makers are Chinese brands, so expect the above when buying their EUCs. Max speeds, Range, Voltage (ET MAX listed as 168 Volts but only charge to 165 Volts), all of it are lies Even on Bluetooth speakers they lie about the wattage of volume or playback hours/battery life With Lights (Bicycle) they lie about Lumens With Clothes the sizes are off.

I’M NAÏVE! Being new to EUCs I look to the popular content providers as a cast of Sherpa Spirit Guides, often hanging on every word. The major content providers surely know that the display speed is often exaggerated, and I assumed the claimed 70MPH was legitimate. On that video there’s rancor challenging the claimed speed, which as far as I can tell, has remained unanswered and undefended by its creator. I guess it goes without saying “you should never meet your heroes as you will likely be disappointed.” That said, after changing my like to a dislike, I looked through the comments to see if any of my preferred and trusted Sherpa’s commented, and sadly a few that I’ve come to trust and who must have known the claim was suspicious, nonetheless commented favorably; essentially an enabler, hopefully unintentionally. Enough of that mess. I loved your video. I wonder how many minutes it will take for someone, somewhere, that minored in physics, from some obscure or Ivy League university, will tell you that your wrong. Cars & Trucks usually aren't even speed calibrated 100% from the factories, and doing even get me going on motorcycles.. Same deal even worse.. [Just be thankful that EUCs don't have to deal with gear swaps, etc also] **We used to have extremely small GPS speedos that we'd install on our RC aircraft, and it would give Exact speeds, so people might want to check into that.. One thing to remember is most cars speedos are 5% over give or take. They don't wanna get sued for speeding tickets (or so i've heard, maybe theres another reason for this) so they have the speedos read 5% over on all vehicles unless its an actual ex cop car because those ones get calibrated speedos for enforcing tickets.

Also don't forget Bluetooth doesn't work perfectly at high speeds. A standard Bluetooth headset looses quality when on a motorcycle at 50mph (depending on the headset) but gps will be direct to them device. Talking about speed, i completely agree! However when a wheel cut off or tilt back occurs is the system looking at rpm? Or speed?

@@UStride bro, almost all of our communication is based on a spherical earth. The simplest way to prove it is the watch a boat take off see it disappear from the bottom up on the horizon. I live in California, why can't I just use a basic telescope to look over the Pacific and view the Philippines? Also why does the sun rise in the east and set in the west? Why is it night on one half of the planet and simultaneously day on the other? But these are just basic questions. Also, everything else we observe in the sky is a sphere, unless you're one of the FE people who thinks everything in space is fake, so what compelling reason is it to believe the earth isn't? Earth looks flat to use on the ground or close to ground level because of our prospective coupled with our physical size compared to the earth. If we were the size of an atom living on top of a beach ball, it would also appear flat. On top of all of it, who are the "They" who hiding the truth, why are "They" doing it and what do "They" stand to gain by lying about this?
