1. Tight buns and ponytails can break off hair (use scrunchies not rubber bands) 2. Low manipulation hair styles are necessary for hair growth (aka wash n' go) 3. Don't rely on oil for moisture. 4. Don't skip shampoo! You can buy a moisturizing shampoo or clarifying shampoo. Your scalp needs to be clean and to breath. 5. Don't overdo it with protein products. 6. Protect your hair. Use satin line scrunchies, wrap hair at night, use satin pillowcases, and t-shirts to dry hair. 7. Don't overstretch your hair too often. This includes banding your hair. 8. Have a routine and stick to it. LOC method, LCO method, etc. 9. Switch up your products. Your hair will get used to products and it will stop working. 10. Avoid combing and brushing your hair consistently. Also, clean brushes and combs regularly!

I never understood the “oil for moisture” concept. When you are thirsty, you do not grab a glass of oil to drink, so if your hair is thirsty...water, water, water. You said it Sis...using quality water-based products, quality!!! ...and a weekly routine...cleansing shampoo, conditioner and styler...40 minute wash and go and I’m out the door. When I hear someone say they are sealing in the moisture with oil, I just want to scream...it’s the shampoo that elevates the hair cuticle to receive the water and the conditioner that closes or seals the cuticle back down...so if you didn’t allow the water to get in during the shampoo process, all that other stuff is a waste of money on products.

You are too cute. I dont have a probleming growing my hair. I agreed with all you said except 2. I haven't used shampoo since 2003. I use WEN. I also love oil but my oil is used just before I add my gel. After washing, I use Aloe Vera juice. My hair is saturated with that, then my leave in, I've already deep condition. I use another cream for moisture, styling cream then my oil and gel. I get a great wash n go every time. I was happy when I ran across your videos and saw all you use to moisturized your hair. I hope when you get your million viewers (and you will), you dont change your content. Not for everyone. I have coarse hard stands so I need the extra oils to lubricate my hair. People with thinner stands might not need to do the same. The natural community tends to follow this one size fits all mentality, and although I know that you're not claiming this works for everyone I just wanted to put this out there. People like to hop on bandwagons like finger detangling and cowashing, and then it's on to the next trend.

I think oils do help. The ppl apart of the natural hair movement at the beginning were whipping up hair mixtures that they saw results from. Now I will say the quality products on the market have increased so adding a layer of oil seems unnecessary. But always continue to do what works for you. I don't use an oil to seal because it takes time, trial and error, and money to find the oil that works best and I'd rather spend my money elsewhere. But I think I want to try sealing with jojoba oil. I loveeee jojoba or coconut when I prepoo. Coconut oil keeps my hair dark and shiny

As far as ppl saying wash n goes causing fairy knots... i shingle (which ppl hate) but when i feel a ssk i can snip that i strand at the knot... and if you are using quality products w/ oils in them you dont need additional oils to seal in oils that are already in your products...

Love you girl, but my ancestors ain’t have no Cantu and they hair flourished I think it’s these “special” products that’s a hoax.
@KimberlyCherrell

I love you too but our ancestors also didn’t consume 90% of the things we do nor did they care about poppin curls. They also could care less about split ends or dry hair. If you have what you need to grow your hair that’s great but i didn’t once in this video talk about “special products” i spoke about techniques and switching products. This is what worked for me. If you don’t agree that’s cool but this is still what worked for me 😊

Love the video however, i disagree with you about switching up hair products. I feel like you should continue to use the same product in order to see results. It’s also very common to see products that say to use it for at least 3 months and/or longer in order to start getting the results you want. So if you keep on switching up your products then your hair is not getting use to it and then the product is not as beneficial. I am also speaking from experience because i was a product hoarder a few months ago.

What she meant was like using the same products for your hair after awhile eventually your hair will become use to it and won't work so not switching out every few months only maybe like after a year or 2 switch out one of your products. Honestly never know🤷🏽♀️🙂
@peachesncream14324

What I gathered was she saying just switch it up sometimes and don't be loyal to just one brand forever. I switch up mine every 2-3 months. I have 4 sets of different brand products.

What if you can't afford having 3 types of leave-ins creams?
@dominique4432

You don't need to. What she's presenting are options. Take away what works best for you. Get 1 good deep conditioner and 1 good leave in. Be consistent with wash day

Try Aussie, Frutis:Sleek & Shine Garnier Wholeblends leave in conditioners they are cheap and can be found at most regular grocery stores. They work pretty good for me (I have thick low porosity hair)
@alex1462
5 жыл бұрын
Or when your leave in runs out, you could buy a different one. But to be honest, it's cheaper to buy in bulk. Personally, I set aside money for Black Friday and spend no more than $200 on all my hair products for the next year. This allows me to buy high quality products at discounted prices instead of buying whatever is cheapest every week/month. If I want to splurge on something new that I just have to have, it comes out of that budget.

Im definitely going through that ugly stage! Lol. 6 months natural. Got it all shaved off at the barbershop June 2018. Low manipulation is definitely key. I braid my hair every 6 weeks (box or micro). I moisturize it every day (jbco, blue magic hair grease and Cantu shea butter). Greasing the scalp is definitely key. As soon as it was long enough to plait, it has been plaited up. After 6 weeks, i remove the braids. I wash, condition, hot oil treatment and leave in conditioner. Washing weekly was not good for my hair. It needed to build those oils up. Can't pass up an opportunity to plug while on here so go to barnes&noble.com and check out my work under Tonya Young #readabook

Donna Ible-White genetics and lifestyle are huge factors...
@1kitts
5 жыл бұрын
@@beaubeauknows3620 Lifestyle is a huge factor yes. But genetics? Probably not. Let me explain. I use to believe in genetics until years ago I realised that many people within a family may have similar symptoms and happenings not necessarily because of genetics, but moreso because they are all predisposed to the same living conditions (lifestyle). So a daughter, mother, grandmother and great grandmother may wind up with breast cancer or diabetes not necessarily because of genetics (though possibly, but slim), but because of the family practices and traditions- such as how they prepare meals, where they live, how they deal with stress, etc. Think about it. You change your lifestyle and you break the curse!
