If you don’t see progress after one month, keep going at it. Don’t give up easily. Your first year or two at the gym are going to include a lot of trial and error until you find out what works best for you.

Thanks man. Is it normal sometimes to go down or stay the same weight for a lift? As a beginner I was expecting to progress like every single time but idk

@@SpaceStrikeYour muscles need time to develop and realize “This weight is too easy” once you feel that try slightly adding the weight and do that for some time then add the full weight and see how you go. It’s normal for you to stay at the same weight for some time but decrease in weight could be either you’re sore or other factors. Thats something you have to find out and work with. Like do you have a good amount of rest days? What’s your diet like? Etc etc.

@@issacnewton6943 oh ok thank you, I guess maybe my body needs to get adjusted because I just started gym for 2 weeks but for some lifts I feel like I have to stay the same weight, while others I go up and a few I feel weak and go down a bit. I guess as long as I feel a stimulus in the muscle no matter what weight that’s good right?

I'm 30, 2 years ago I was super skinny at ~ 64 kilos 6ft1. Now I'm 84 kilos ( I don't look chubby at all. ) . Only now am I getting a few comments here and there about looking a bit like I lift. I personally started seeing some changes after maybe 3 months. I feel like being so skinny makes it take a long time just to eat and build your body to look like a normal guy. If you don't eat and gain weight as a skinny guy you can spin your wheels in the gym forever and will still not look like you lift at all. So eat!

I completely agree with tip #1 at 6:00. I used to go 6 days a week, and I started noticing more should probed injuries that would cause me to stop going for a week or 2. Once I started going 3 times a week, I noticed that I started prioritizing quality because I have one workout per muscle group weekly, and I get adequate rest in between each workout. Also, it allows me to add cardio or HIIT in between my weighted sessions so I can burn fat, and keep my heart healthy.

I've heard that hypertrophy is the only way to grow muscles, which I assume is true. If so, does it matter how I achieve that hypertrophy? For example, if I perform 3 sets of incline bench press, taking each set to failure, I will achieve hypertrophy for the upper chest three times. But what if I approach it differently, such as doing shoulder dumbbell presses to failure and then immediately switching to side laterals, also taken to failure? In theory, this would induce hypertrophy in my front deltoids and side deltoids in one set. If I repeat this after a 2-4 minute rest, I could achieve hypertrophy three times for both muscle groups, saving a lot of time in the gym. Efficiency is the main focus of this question.

I think a deficit of a 1000 is too much. Eat to fuel your body if you want to build muscle. You’ll be stronger and build more muscle if you were in a slight deficit, like 200-300 maybe. It will take longer to lose the fat but you will feel better and have more energy while losing the fat.

That's because you're used to seeing huge unrealistic transformations from people being juiced. This is super realistic growth, and if the lighting was different, the guy drank a little less water beforehand and he got a pump it would look a lot more dramatic. But that's the point all these big dramatic builds require preparation before they look as good as they do in pictures or on camera, it's not realistic just walking around in the morning two days out of the gym

@@LoachAo Thanks for the reply and maybe!

@dou of course dude, depending on your genetics you might even hit 20lbs in the first year of newbie gains, but the main point is that you've established a habit and gained the knowledge to just continue what you were doing, and just get leaner in fat and bulkier in muscle. 10 pounds of muscle may not be the esthetic people are looking for these days but you'll feel like you hopped into a cyborg body compared to what you could be living like now. If you are underweight or overweight getting that muscle will improve your entire life, from the moment you wake up to the second you fall asleep. Good luck dude, hope you get it.

Hey bro, how many sets per bodypart are you averaging per week? I currently do 8 sets a week per bodypart, 0-1 RIR, is that enough for maximizing growth? Whenever I had more sets than that, I feel like the sets are suboptimal and I’m already wiped for the previous intense sets!
