Divide by 546 to the power of 5 and scream and cry because everything is fucked and logic is stupid cause am I a size 5 or 22? because in one brand I'm a size 5 but in the other brand I'm a size 84. People should START caring about quality, actually. Because it turns out when you spend that extra money on a t shirt, a pair of denim, a flannel, a beanie, that are made better by people who care about the industry, you're not as willing to just landfill it and throw it away. Not only that, but because it's made better, IT WILL LAST MUCH LONGER. The character of the clothes will be more you, and you'll love wearing the clothes as opposed to just feeling like you have to wear em and try to make a style. Brands like Warehouse, UES, American Trench, Freenote Cloth, 3Sixteen, Gitman Vintage, Studio d'Artisan, Viberg, and so many more, they care about what you wear. Maybe give Shein and Uniqlo less of your money, and the boutiques that sell the brands I just mentioned, more of it. Not caring about quality has led us to have this video be made, if you think about it.
@danlightened

Yes, the benefits can be fourfold. Quality stuff lasts 5-10 years. You'll always be looking classy. Feels and probably is good for your skin. With a basic minimal wardrobe that's versatile, you can afford buy costlier stuff. Because you're getting more repeated uses, more matches and for a longer period.

I think most of expensive fashion is designed specifically to represent the purpose of communicating with your desired social group. There are no reasons in mind to buy a black tshirt of an expensive brand over a good tshirt of cheaper brand if not to say something someone. Some pieces have a specific shape , design and thought that is unique to that brand. But no one can convince me that an all star or any adidas shoe of the same design of a rick owens will have different impact when it comes to the aesthetic and design of what you are wearing. Fashion is a form of cultural and societal expression which it tell me that a lot of the purpose of a expensive wardrobe is not related to design or your liking of the piece but to communicate and establish where do you belong in a society group. A fashion statement or decision (which bring us to the iykyk) is a message that can only be deciphered by other members of that specific society. If a message has no receiver, what is the point of the message then?

As lame as it may look, i genuinely just go for quality, fit, and longevity over anything. If it fits well, it made well, and will only get better overtime, then it’s good in my opinion (granted, i do a lot of work and am very active day to day. I used to be into the high fashion and designer stuff (walking around in crazy shit is not fun lol), but after some simple research and understanding the input costs, labels and brand names make me laugh at what i used to buy. Example, helmut lang tees. I bought one on sale bc it was $35!?!?! Came in the mail, and it fits horrible, “dry clean only,” and the print feels like a sticker that was heat-pressed on. Maybe i “dont get it” or “cant appreciate it” but i do feel like i can appreciate quality. Dont get me wrong, the shirt is nice but lord is it heavy. Quality ≠ weight. Wish more people understood that. And it also fit horrible. Great video with pretty much every point you need when buying clothes, not even just “basics.” Regardless of cost, if i can see myself wearing it a lot and it fits my body and rather plain style, then its a purchase i dont mind making.

please don't rush it like me and wait a few weeks before buying your new clothes because if you buy clothes compulsively there's a big chance you'll not like them after all (it sounds a bit insane but you need patience to make better choices) also as said in the video don't buy something just because it's cheaper or in sales if you know it doesn't fit you (and exercising won't automatically make them fit you)

as a 5'5" guy, not finding well fitting clothes is why I dont dabble in fashion much, as its almost impossible, esp. if you wanna go with "designer" clothes, as those are designed for people literally >2/3' taller lmao. For pants I figured out the hack of buying "cropped" ones, which fit me like a regular for most people. But for shirts, jackets n shit, I have not found a good option, since I dont wanna spend 3x the money on brands like peter manning, and manually cropping normal clothes can ruin the proportions.

I feel this. I'm standing slightly taller at 5ft8 but I still find that most clothing pieces are too big or too long for me because of my smaller frame. Eventually taking them to your local tailor is still your best bet. And I've learned not to go the "statement piece" route cause that could actually highlight the changes you made with your pieces and your proportions. Just focus on the overall silhouette of the whole outfit ie fitted top/straight flare pants and/or color combination and you should be good. If you really need a statement piece, go with an accessory like leather crossbody bags or something. There are a few IG influencers that are really helpful in this department.

Ure not looking around enough. I’m 5’6 and buy designer, vintage and lowkey brands without much hassle. I get it if you’re 5’5 and really stocky, but if that’s not the case then finding clothes isn’t that difficult.
@food4j

I’m around the same height. Muscular with a decent v shape frame. Not a perfect one. Like he says get your measurements and stick with timeless looks. Just add accessories to your fits to add some uniqueness to them. A good example would be to check out Ralph Lauren’s personal fits. As he is really short. Get your pants tailored. It’s the only way
@Enjoipandas13
Жыл бұрын
Also 5'5 and aside from pants finding clothes is hardly a problem. I'm pretty average build, so I don't know if thats it. I would say to find a tailor to get pants hemmed it costs anywhere from $10-$30 usually. I guarantee you it's not even close to impossible to find nice fitting clothes you just need to change your mentality. If designer clothes are for taller people, cropping ruins proportions, and you don't want to shell out the money for smaller clothing then you probably should just put on a potato sack and sob in the corner because youre too short for the world lmfao Get creative dude and btw I looked up Peter Manning just now and it's insanely devoid of any style whatsoever. Looks like a gimmick for insecure short kings, save your money. good luck

FIT FIT FIT FIT FIT. A $10,000 suit will look like shit if it doesn't fit. A $250 suit can look great if it fits properly. Few understand this.
@lifeontheledgerlines8394
Жыл бұрын
Hell, most of the price of bespoke suits that cost 10k is the fact that the tailor is fitting the suit exactly to you. The materials may cost a lot, aren't the bulk of the final price of the suit. Bespoke suitmakers will watch you walk and sit to get a move for how they need the suit to move with you and how the fit will adapt to being worn, and things like hand-padded lapels and full canvassing ensure the structure of the suit lines up with your body well and gets better with wear. Fit is king, first and foremost

I would add the simple rule of 3 : own only 3 pieces of each clothe (3 jackets, 3 sweater, 3 pairs of shoes, etc.). If those fits perfectly to your body and to your personality, you’ll save a lot of money and time to dress up and always look good. Also, like meat, buy less but better quality (from you continent if possible). And to make them last, wash less, 30 degrees, stains by hand with Marseille’s soap. Cheers!

Conclusion - I chose jeans and have my gear in a small EDC bag.
