From few trailers we did have from ToTK, several people have already gathered that dungeons are back, crafting weapons seems to be a thing, new overworld locations aside from the sky world segments, new enemies with one of them possibly being Redeads. Hopefully we get the aerial bow and arrow combat we saw in the patents. The game itself is supposed to be darker than MM and this may be the last time we fight Ganondorf chronologically. While you have a good point with the no new overworld the sky and underground are nearly two new maps. the artbook and insiders nearly confirm dungeons that may even be themed, were getting a whole new vehicle system, what seems to be a better story with more lore (though a could be wrong on that) and then the basic stuff like armor and monsters are taken care of. yes i the old hyrule is returning but we seem to have plenty to explore in the sky and underground PLUS we can use our knowledge of hyrule for item farming and such. Jesus somebody is a bit salty about the fact that the last 29 Zelda games took place in - *shocker* - Hyrule and not Tamriel or middle earth. Breath Of The Wild's map was only fully unknown to those who had never played a Zelda game before. You're forgetting that technically the map consists of jumbled-up areas and locations we explored in previous games, like Hyrule castle and Gerudo town. and if people loved the old game's map so much, why remove it if you can improve it instead? but the single biggest thing you're forgetting is that we're talking about NINTENDO. not Bethesda or Obsidian. they can do what they want. Do you know why? because they ALWAYS deliver. other companies would use reusing the map as an excuse to do nothing for half of the development time and then the game still sucks. but Nintendo has actually made an executive decision to reuse part of the old game's map so that they can actually spend their 6 years of production making WORTHWHILE GAMEPLAY CHANGES. WATCH. THE. GAMEPLAY. TRAILER. honestly, I don't usually hate but somebody who wants to call a game disappointing still almost 3 months from release should not even have an opinion at all, at least not one that the community cares about. Also, they have addressed the durability problem and rather than removing weapon durability (which personally I think will completely upset the balance of the game) they are just IMPROVING IT so that there are ways of stopping weapons from breaking. Honestly, I think you should have waited before you uploaded this video. I could understand you saying something like this about starfield, but there was barely any gameplay footage for TOTK when you posted this so I think every argument is completely futile. go back and watch the breath of the wild trailers again. how much gameplay did they show in those? exactly. Nintendo knows perfectly well that people don't want gameplay features spoiled, which is why they are probably keeping the most interesting new mechanics under wraps. and personally, I think people like you are going to ruin that whole thing since you're putting Nintendo under so much pressure to show their hand and spoil the game for the people who are actually still excited about it.

I really like your point about how hyrule will seem the same. I agree with the sentiment, however i'd like to share a unique perspective. I'm a botw modder, I am the creator for a popular large scale mod project called Relics of the Past. You can find countless results on YT about the mod. One of the things that my Team and I have done with this project is populate the world with much more content. Its a combat challenge based mod so it adds a ton of enemies but we have also gone as far as adding new puzzle challenges, at least 200 new chests, a ton of different collectables like Razor shrooms and hearty radishes, roughly 2500 added enemies some of which are custom made, and even some brand new custom quests. All of this totaling for about 5000+ added map object. We have modded the entire map at this point. EVERY single person that has played my mod have really enjoyed all of the added content and has found it refreshing. From this perspective, I first hand can at least say that people wont need to worry as much about the exploration part. I think there will be more than enough for us to see.

But it's still botw. I haven't played your project so I can't say how that's like, but if you added actual dungeons to the map and made the story better, got rid of shrines being the same texture every single time you enter one, gave weapons more meaning than fodder for another weapon, side quests that give npcs more of a human feel than it could be cool. Aside from that I can see why people find it refreshing. It's like randomizers for oot and the likes. Again no hate on your project since I'm sure it adds some cool stuff botw could have used at release but we're critiquing botw in its natural state, which to me feels empty due to it having a lack of what I named above.

Ok, I see your point but: 1. Other than islands or vehicles we're also gonna be underground. And with so much being changed to the main map, it's gonna feel new again. Like for ex: The typhoon above Hebra mountain. The malice spewing out of death mountain. THE UNDERGROUND. The new enemies. 2. The only reason the divine beasts and shrines are repetitive is because we've been doing them for the past 6 years now. You can't tell me that when you first went on Vah naboris you said it was the same as vah medoh. Same goes for the shrines. It's not that they're repetitive, it's the fact it's been the same for 6 years now. Yea sure the bosses kinda sucked but totk has newer bosses. Like the Gleeok on Bridge of hylia. 3. You also can't say that enemies in totk are bad cuz one, OF COURSE THEY'RE GONNA REVAMP THE OLD ENEMIES THEY'VE BEEN A STAPLE OF THE BREATH OF THE WILD SERIES. (botw, aoc, and now totk.) (thats like saying "oh this mario game sucks bczu goombas are in it no variety") And I know botw games are in the zelda franchise im noit saying theyre not but when you have a trilogy of games in the same point of time with the same characters obviously it'll be it's own sub series if you will. But know we have: Boko Bosses, Gleeok, The minecraft Golem, and probably much more because the games not out yet. So don't worry, it'll be good. Majoras mask used the same characters and place holders and such, yet that was good right? Trust me, it'll be good.

Sadly I have to agree 100% I feel like the great atmosphere Breath of the Wild had just won’t be there anymore… especially because a lot of that came from the pure joy of exploring something new and unknown. Breath of the Wild brought Zelda into the current age and did it so much better than so many other franchises ever could. I just don’t see how Nintendo could pull that off again, especially since the game won’t be having this wow factor BotW had because of its amazing and unfamiliar Open World. Also Nintendo’s secrecy regarding Tears of the Kingdom doesn’t help at all. I think BotW had way better marketing. Maybe they reserve their good marketing for the launch titles of their follow up console and go all out, the same way they did with the Switch at launch.

I respectfully and wholeheartedly have to disagree. This game is sure to have a lot of new things to explore. Even if the base map is the same, between dungeons and the countless islands there will be, countless hours could be poured into exploration. Just like botw. Even if the map doesn't have a lot more to offer, it will offer nostalgia. The nostalgia alone could be enough to carry this game. Nintendo is also sure to make a huge trailer of what they plan to introduce to this game before release. Just because it hasn't happened yet, doesn't mean it won't. The claim that the game WILL be disappointing is down right false.

It will solve some problems BotW had but on the other hand it will probably come with its own problems as no game is perfect. It will also not feel as new and revolutionary as BotW did. It could be better as BotW if you havent played said game yet but if you've been already playing BotW for hundrets of hours i have to agree with most things that where said in the video. BotW was so good since it was something new that has never been here before. TotK could be good but it will never have this "wow" effect.

This is definitely a hot take/unpopular opinion. Most fans should be excited we're getting the same land we traveled to before. They will change aspects of that land of course to make it unique. The team that works on Zelda series has a rarity of disappointment. They're giving us something with new places to explore while old places may appear familiar, they'll have their own new charm.

1) Innovation is not strictly necessary. They found a design methodology that worked extremely well, and it makes perfect sense to focus on refining that instead of trying to come up with new gimmicks. A sequel that feels like a polished version of the original is probably what the average player is expecting out of TotK 2) Who would expect them to take a game world that they designed in great detail, and just toss that in the trash to make a new one from scratch? This isn't a game with a handful of distinct levels marked out on a map. BotW is *huge,* and it's not like the world is lacking in substance. It's clearly a carefully crafted world with plenty of detail. It makes sense to expand that world, add more things to it and make it bigger, which sounds like exactly what they chose to do. Besides, not everyone played BotW to 100% completion of every single thing. 3) You sound like you expected the *Monster Hunter* team's level of talking about what's coming in the new game, where they hype up the player base by telling them how old mechanics have changed and what new mechanics are going to alter the gameplay. Pretty sure everyone else expected Nintendo's typical trailer of new and shiny stuff that only tells the bare minimum of what has changed. Predicting that people will be disappointed is much like predicting where the sun will be in 24 hours, because someone is going to expect something and the game won't deliver that something. It's a sequel, someone out there is going to compare it to the original and be like "the first game did this better." Or "I liked it better when the original did this thing, even though most people didn't like it." I don't think anyone is expecting it to be better than BotW, the fans are mostly expecting more BotW, and that's exactly what the sequel will deliver. Anything more is most likely a bonus.

I don't know how many times I've said this to folks, but the problems the world had with BotW, do we know if it was complained about in Japan? Japan makes up 80% of Nintendo's profitable sales,95% of households have a Switch of any variety. This has been something I've been saying about Pokemon and the like, if Japan doesn't have issues with it, issues say Americans or other have with their games, largely won't be cared for.

I think it’s really funny that you think that the Dev Team didn’t understand that exploration was one of the best parts of BOTW. Also people hating the weapon durability system isn’t universal. Yeah, despite the artbook being a thing, which I know and understand, based on what I've seen of artbook, fans who are hyped for this and expecting the game to Game of the Year need to understand that this Zelda game is still not only the WORST marketed Zelda game in history but also the WORST marketed Triple AAA video game in history! Which is due to the fact practically most of what is shown in the Artbook still hasn't even been revealed officially yet, let alone the ACTUAL GAMEPLAY. The marketing for this game is NOT only an insult to the franchise but to hardcore Triple AAA games as a whole! Especially when Nintendo is purposefully avoiding doing any real marketing for Zelda, all to focus more on lesser IPs like Splatoon, Animal Crossing or their overrated IPs like Fire Emblem, Xenoblade Chronicles, Bayonetta, and yes, at this point, even Super Mario. I know Mario is the mascot, but the little red plumber gets way too much attention. Especially now, given that we're in another year of Luigi. If anything, this should be another year for Luigi when it comes to Super Mario. The fact that, despite the artbook leak, Tears of the Kingdom is being marketed so horribly proves that Nintendo doesn't give a damn about their Millennial fans anymore! They're target is, always has been, and always will that younger gamers. Right now, their target hardcore audience is solely Gen Z fans, whom, most of which, ONLY care about Fire Emblem, Xenoblade, and Bayonetta. Hence why Nintendo's main focus when it comes to hardcore IPs are solely on those three and hardly ever on Zelda or Metroid. Especially given that Nintendo is sick of making Zelda games and marketing Metroid titles when literally none of their target audiences want or even care about them. Zelda and Metroid are officially joining Kid Icarus, Ice Climbers, Punch-Out, Star Fox, and F-Zero in the dead Nintendo franchise zone. That said is why, believe it or not, TotK and Prime may unfortunately be the last new Zelda and Metroid titles we may get or even see for a very long time! In other words, everything I just said and the fact that videos like this had to even be made is why Sony is currently and always will be crushing Nintendo. Nintendo doesn't rule the world of gaming anymore. Sony does! The price for Nintendo breaking off their deal with Sony from 90's I suppose. With just how much Sony is dominating, it really makes me wonder if Nintendo would've still dominated had they stuck with their with Sony. A reality where Sony Nintendo actually saw the light of day probably would've been much better than the clown show that Nintendo is now! Sure, Tears of the Kingdom may be a phenomenal experience as it's likely going to be much better than BotW (I hope), but that doesn't mean it'll win Game of the Year, because it's not! It may win People's Choice and/or some other award. But not Game of the Year. That spot is already guaranteed for Final Fantasy XVI given that FFXVI has had the best marketing so far in recent time! Therefore, FFXVI is going to destroy TotK! And if Prime 4 is shown and released later this year, then FFXVI is gonna destroy both Prime 4 and TotK because weak marketing ain't what wins GotY!

Why every game in the series should be innovation?
@madness9651
Жыл бұрын
Idk the only 3D Zelda's that were truly innovative were Ocarina of Time for porting the series into 3D, granted fundamentally it is just Metroid style in 3D so it's not even that innovative, and Majora's Mask for inventing a completely unique game setup. Wind Waker, Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword are just ports of Ocarina's formula, and BoTW is just an open-world game, it didn't invent anything. So no, people aren't even looking for innovation - but I think the formula of open-world has been stressed out to the limit and people are getting tired of these "infinite" games that are just so large you cannot ever complete them 100% while also keeping up with work or studies. I think games of the future will become more "gamey" again, with more confined worlds that only emulate realism rather than simulating it. The rise of open-world came alongside the increased hardware capacities of Playstation 4, but at the same time came also the growth of a huge indie game sector. What was indie in the past is the mainstream of the future, so I think overall we are going back...
