I saw wicked for the first time this summer and it was honestly the mos amazing thing I'd ever seen in my entire life. I'd been avoiding spoilers and information about the show for YEARS, not knowing if I'd ever get a chance to see it and just praying that someday I would, and I loved every single second of it!

addhfsgffag thats so cool! what kind of things did you get to play? (i know some of that would be affected by whether you were in drumline or front ensemble, but im still curious) if you couldnt tell, im a percussionist too

It's really cool to see the percussion by itself, so when you listen to the whole song you can listen for it

I love how they talk about all these fancy, unique instruments and then what they actually show at the end is cymbals, tubular bells, and a timpani.

I would imagine so, but most musicals are done with an Orchestra where they are in the pit that most often will be in front of the stage, maybe sometimes off in back, or backstage, or under the stage if a theater doesn't have an Orchestra pit in front of the stage. Through they are some shows like Once and Million Dollar Quartet where actors double as musicians by playing their own instruments as well.

Our school concert band was looking for a percussion player. This video made me join and I've found real enjoyment in it and my want to learn made me fool the band leader into thinking I has percussion experience before. Best decision ever!

Danny Eyheralde sorry I misread, yeah the percussionist is separated by either a plexiglass, a separate room, or just placed at either wings of the stage

i'm seeing the show for the 6th time on Father's day in San Francisco which will mark 2 1sts foor me (1st time seeing it on Tour as well as the 1st time since San Francisco's closing night in 2010 that i've seen the show it will be interesting seeing the staging from the touring peerspective as I'm guessing with the exception of "Defying Gravity" the way it's staged on tour is what "Plan B" is when the floor hydraulics don't work .

I am pretty sure both tours work the same: there is a core made up of the following: conductor, 3 keys, guitar, and drums. The union locals that are hired are as follows as of 2010: 1 keyboard, 1 percussion, 3 woodwinds, and 3 brass. Yes, the percussionist is expected to have all of that for the show. The company provides the more exotic stuff and the percussionist provides the rest. There is a reason why I know this.
@disneydanny2
13 жыл бұрын
@musicmanaj92 that would be really fun to conduct that show. if i'm not mistaken the waty that position works is you'd learn all the Keyboard parts then once you become Principle on Keyboard 1 you'd have double duty as Keyboard 1/Asst. M.D. then move up to the main M.D. when the main one leaves.

@staggmovie
6 жыл бұрын
I would imagine that they would be a drummer but they would have to be in the pit with the rest of the Orchestra, as remember that this guy is in a room all by himself playing 59 instruments and he has to play a certain instrument at a certain time, and then run all over the room, playing whatever instrument he needs to play throughout the whole show, I am sure that this guy makes it look easy but it is not.
