Great vid Caleb! My initial expectation was that more willow was going to be woven through out the thumb sized crossers. However after thinking about it you have the square footage of you foot plus the sq. ft. Of the willow frame to distribute the weight. The frame allows you to lift the shoe off the snow for the next step. Nice!!! Still gotta get me one of those knives.

Caleb, when are you going to post a review of your dragonfly knife?
@CanadianBushcraftChannel

Very soon. Caleb is currently traveling through Wyoming and Montana working on an archeological crew, so its' difficult to film and get the videos edited.

Great instruction! Much nicer than the ones Ray Mears made. Ever try the spruce bough snowshoe?

Yep. Not as simple as you'd think, and definitely cumbersome. But as I said in the video, a whole lot better than no snowshoes.

Parallel with a cross piece for the ball of your foot to rest on? Whenever I've seen shoes made that was the way. Best wishes, hope the snows aren't too heavy for you this week.

Nice job I'd love to see them in use after the other one is made. What kind of hitch do you use and what material?

What hitch are you referring to?

Canadian Bushcraft I was wondering if you used the Indian hitch binding and what material you use for your bindings?
@CanadianBushcraftChannel

Barbarossa4U I am guessing you mean how do we attach them to our feet? With traditional snowshoes, we prefer wide lampwick with the simple tucking snowshoe binding. Modern snowshoes have their own clip-on bindings, while these ones in the video, Caleb states we attach cord. Doesn't really matter what kind, as long as its' strong. Larkspur it to the frame, and then wind up the leg like old Roman Legionnaire's sandals

Nice shoes. NIce knife too. I have the Tops BOB which you know well and love it. I wanted something a little thinner as I use my axxe for any heavier work. Nearly went for your Dragonfly but got a great deal on a Temagami in Ss and seeing as I'm on the Wet...srry, West coast I thought I'd give it a try. Anyway, I like your shoe there bt it seems to me that the long, centre-pole would get in the way and stop your toes from flexing below the shoe. Wouldn't it be better having two poles running par
@CanadianBushcraftChannel

We actually brought this up in an earlier comment. Yes, two poles work much better for drifting the snowshoe. We had only so many poles cut with only so much daylight!

Safety scissors would be handy for cutting and trimming also.

+Mishawaka Post For sure! Though really you'd want small pruning shears to cut this stuff.
