Thanks for this video. It's great to see a place that thriving during these times. The only places I remember from my years here are the pubs and DIY shop. Thanks again this has been a fantastic look back at where I spent my early life.😊😊

By eck What a positive video Nice of you to notice how clean and well maintained the area is In my opinion it's down to the local residents and the council for keeping it clean If people take pride where they live and take rubbish home and don't throw it in the Street it's easier for the council to maintain as there's nothing much the council needs to do Too many of the same food and coffee shops for my liking but thats just me , hopefully they can maintain profitability

I can be positive if I need to be. Everything was maintained well and the tunnel under the road. Wickersley Parish council have their act together.

@@timawells yeah that underpass was probably the cleanest I've seen There's an underpass in Sheffield centre near the O2 so much grubby and smells of p155 The local council have done brilliant, hopefully it gets passed on to them

Glad you liked Wickersley. It is indeed a thriving area, although I am personally somewhat biased against it due to issues I've had over the years with harassment etc. And as someone who is on a low income, I also consider it a bit too 'posh' for my liking. Wickersley has taken much of the nightlife away from the town centre. If you go at night you will see lots of taxis, and the bars will be packed. The parish council have had to try and limit the opening of new bars/restaurants due to concerns over noise/traffic in what is predominantly a residential area. The toilets were renovated by the parish council a few years ago and are now immaculate. Before they were your typical old tatty ones; broken flush, dirt everywhere, "for a good time ring 01709 ......" etc. Back then they were managed by the borough council, not the parish council like they are now. It is also probably one of South Yorkshire's best areas for public transport, with buses to Maltby, Worksop, Rotherham, Meadowhall, and Sheffield. And we had the Doncaster service reinstated recently. The subway is vital due to the traffic. Unfortunately it is prone to flooding in heavy rain. The artwork on the walls was painted a few years ago, and really brightens it up. Unfortunately not long after it was painted, it flooded, and damaged the paint. Interestingly, we also have a purpose built library, which was built in 2008. Previously we just had the mobile library pay visits. Since you've done Wickersley now, you'll have to pop down to nearby Bramley and do a video on the controversial Bramley One-Way System :).

I hope it becomes as established as Ecclesall road Rotherham deserves some time in the limelight.

It seems to be their new town centre as people avoid the centre now.

Lovely Tim the Rotherham Ecclesall road but without the cultural enrichment (for now)

Rotherham folk won't touch the town centre, maybe down to 1400 Rotherham girls who were groomed there, but they still vote Labour Jon.
