What an intelligent removal of a large beaver dam. Well done sir!
@matthewmcdaid7962
2 жыл бұрын
If you've ever watched the removal of a man made dam you will have noticed that the initial breach usually results in a progressively larger opening. The water flow sweeps the dam away. A beaver dam doesn't do that. You must continue to dig away at the woven structure of the dam to enlarge the opening. Much more durable construction techniques. Humans could learn a lot from analyzing the beaver's construction methods.

Chest waders are safe .. notice the belt on the outside waist area if you go in over the top this belt helps keep the water out… no way to do this with shorter hip waders…

A lot of work to do something completely against your best interests. If you need to control the level in the pond, install a beaver deceiver. Simple and effective. Beaver ponds hold water on the land to recharge ground water, reduce flood peaks, provide water during drought periods, return the other animals to the area that have been killed by us and so so much more.

One thing. I'm never sure why you remove Beaver dams? The ponds themseleves if they do not cause any harm have been shown to improve water management and reduce flooding. Our (Man's) straight and quick removal of water is the cause of flooding. Woods and wetlands slow sudden rain down.

Imagine how ticked off the beaver is going to be? Beavers can get big and nasty, I know because I live just up the gully from a beaver dam and that's just a brook down there. Hahaha My adult son went down to take a look see and wasn't half way down when he took a picture of the beaver and it's big, mean and angry looking. How much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood? LOL

Step One: Start a fire on the Beaver Dam 🦫 and stand back and watch your snares fill with beaver. Step Two: Place Oxidized Ammonium Nitrate on the dam and shoot from a safe distance behind cover. By burning you take away a food source they worked for and future materials to build with. By blowing it up the potential of a quick rebuild is taken care of.
