There are a handful of videos that the original artist insisted on playing the guitar (I remember 2-Money for Nothing/Beverly Hillbillies and Gump). Other than that-always the same gifted group!!

You nailed it right off the bat when you said “That’s so creative.” That is the thing about Weird Al; his lyrics are often more creative an interesting than the lyrics of the original song. This is a great example. I think this is why Weird Al is still relevant while many of the artists he has parodied are not.

I think song parody is, by definition, more creative than the original works. Mr Yankovic has to create a new and humorous narrative while staying in the musical lines, as it were.

Notice how Al almost NEVER repeats a rhyme. This song is a great example of that, as is "I Think I'm a Clone Now" (a parody of "I Think We're Alone Now"). 🙂

Yeah, I've always liked how Weird Al usually switches up the chorus on every verse. It makes his songs harder to memorize, but it's easily worth it.

I've been a life-long fan of ol' Al. One of my musical heroes for sure. This has to be my favourite parody of his... I mean... the sheer BALLS on that man to put these lyrics to the tone of the original music.... it's the most darkly entertaining thing I've ever witnessed. Edit... When I first saw Weird Al's version, I was so out of the loop I didn't even know about the original. I assumed he copied the original's animation style. Then I discovered there weren't no animation in the original. Forget the genius lyrics, that animation style is amazing!

This was great. I have not seen this one by Weird Al before. This was very creative. Weird Al so underrated. He still looks great for his age and come up with the most clever lyrics, can sing and even play the accordion.

Reminds me of "Trapped in the Drive-Thru" that you did a few days ago. Those cartoonists are great syncing to the music. I remember when Al was just another weird song writer featured on Dr Demento's radio show back in the 80's. Just him and his accordion. Just another 'novelty act' that no one would remember next year. Now, what a production!

Loving the Weird Al reactions. He (and his band) are supremely talented, the range of styles they perform is incredible. On top of that, their live shows are fun and funny as hell. (There are some vids of them performing live on KZitem if want to see a sample.) Anyhow, I thought I'd recommend a little something different. Deadpool doing parodies of Disney songs. Jamel, I'm not accustomed to doing this. Someone turned me on to these reaction videos and thus far, you are my favorite. I would love, love, love to see you react to two of my favorite Deep Purple songs but realize my chances are probably nil to none. However, I thought I would try just this once. When A Blind Man Cries and Soldier of Fortune. I am a Zep Head and Purpleo since I was 8 years old and I'm now well into my 50's. I can't believe I actually put that number out there on social media! The producer of the video has done stuff like star wars and powerpuff girls and happy tree friends. You can see the artwork looks alot like powerpuff girls/ dexters lab/ samurai jack / star wars, I wonder if Genndy Tartakovsky was involved.

I am bit confused by Al, sometimes he makes fun of conspiracy theories, but here he uses pretty much the same style to describe how it works for real (with some understandable liberties, of course). Tapping the phones, waterboarding... and I guess even killing the wrong person are things that do (did) happen...
