Hello Ade, thank you for sharing your plans sir, we gave our 10 year old grandson a hot air engine kit for Christmas and he built it himself (with just a little help from Grandpa) I would like to start teaching him the basics of engineering and have been looking for something to start him off on. Your engines are perfect, he can help me make them, his first apprenticeship so to speak. Cheers Paul.

if we put 2 of these back-to-back with the flywheel in the middle, we'd get a "naturally-balanced" V-4 with power strokes every 90°, as with the French V-8 internal combustion engine.. one flywheel, 2 main bearings, power every ¼ revolution, balance and symmetry, and also self-starting..
@SuicideJones
Жыл бұрын
i'd build the flywheel into a centrifugal blower and use it to pressure ventilate my D.U.M.B./sous-terrain.. could provide for cooling of the engine, drawing air centrally past all 4-cylinders, also heating the air..

I’m keen to make my first ever engine! I’ll do the single via the plans first! A quick question or three if I may... do you think the engine would still run ok if you doubled the size of all dimensions in the plans? Might consume a heap of air but if air kept up to it, it should run? Going larger I’d make a flywheel and crank balancer and have them finely balanced. Balance the flywheel and crank as an assembly?
@AdeSwash

Hi Anthony, is should work ok as long as it is balanced as best as it can be. I'd be interested to see it if you do make it

Could the exhaust from the twin wig wag power your singles?
@AdeSwash
3 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately not Rob, the exhaust is evacuated under the kinetic energy from the flywheel, which isnt enough to drive the piston for the next stroke, to create the required enery to evacuate the cylinder again, think of it like a perpetual motion system, the energy losses in the moving parts are too great

HI Ade, I'm looking at building one of your gorgeous Twin Vee engines for my two boys. What sort of psi can it handle?
@AdeSwash
11 ай бұрын
Hello friend, these little engines are not designed to run at high speed, in fact the opposite, try and run as slow as possible! They are more appealing at a slower speed. Now for PSI, i can run these down to about 8-12 psi, which gives a nice steady tickover, but it all depends on the build quality as to how well they run :) Join us on the wigwag facebook group to learn more :) Kindest regards.
