of all performances ill never forget the fourth time i saw wilco. july fifteenth 2015. after nineteen songs they left the stage and the equipment was taken off, we all thought the show was over, but then outcomes jeff tweedy and nels cline with acoustics and the drummer returned. the pretty blonde guy took to just a tamborine and they played this song and then seven more before leaving. it turns 0ut it was the last show before they started touring the Star Wars album. best show of my life except maybe the modest mouse and brand new tour

They're great but there are literally thousands of artists active right now with songwriting as good if not better than wilco. Sufjan stevens, mark kozelek, laura marling, justin vernon, robin pecknold, bjork, the list goes on and on

Fleet foxes (robin pecknold) is probably the best folk band today, listen to their album helplessness blues if you can. I'm sure you'll love it

Actually it's not... the first time I heard this song was in their documentary, "I am trying to break you heart" (highly recommended). Their "demo" of this song wasn't decked out with violin and I absolutely fell in love with this song. When I heard the album version I was really disappointed with the added string stuff. I suppose it's what you're used to... but to me this is the version... the strings are a bit cheesy and unnecessary.
