Right, though just like with humans, there are more and less intelligent / social exemplars :) So don't think you just look for a pet crow and it will act like that. This is quite rare, like cats opening doors with the handle or something similar. Though many birds have a quite high potential. However most birds have a different kind of intelligence. Birds also "plan" certain actions (for example when building nests) but their brains work different to humans in that regard. The (english) wikipedia article on "Bird_intelligence" is quite comprehensive

His brother would have lived that long too but the family cat attacked him (strange as she was old and had never care about the birds before). They were all extremely healthy and lively birds. Very extroverted too. I think it really depends on their diet and environment too, not only their size. But that matters too. We talked and whistled to them daily, and let them out of their cage as much as possible. Their cages were comfy and spacious, by a window with nice views and sunlight. Our crow friend was named Ralph. My dad rescued him after he fell out of the nest in a wind storm. Ralph grew up over the spring and summer and spent a lot of time with our family. Toward the end of summer he started spending time with the other crows. By October he had gone wild. He would still come and visit from time to time, but wouldn't let us get too near to him. By the next spring we couldn't tell which crow was Ralph. It was a wonderful experience for our family and I think it was a perfect ending.

This child is learning what a lot of other children miss out on in their early years of development. Pure and natural empathy. All creatures on this earth share a natural form of communication, a universal language in the form of empathy. The ability to understand what another is thinking just by connecting and understanding body movement, sound, gestures and even muscle movement down to very small muscles like in the face. Simple breathing patterns can tell another creature what mood someone or something is in. His empathy levels as he grows into a adult will give him a great edge with his peers. It is lovely to see being displayed here.

0:45 - That is fantastic, the crow is jumping to follow the child and then the crow runs into the child, and nothing happens. They're just buddies, playing. Fantastic.

Glad that, at the end, an abandoned crow didn't die because of a lazy wildlife expert, but has a life because of caring souls.

Justifying passive animal cruelty. Pathetic. They do not care for the wildlife.

I have the same story with a pigeon, which I rescued 2 months ago, as he was a dying helpless fledgling. Now he gained weight from 180 to 320 grams and is following me all over the appartment.

❤❤❤ Fun fact crows have the intelligence equal to a 7 year old human
@surfwriter8461
5 ай бұрын
I'm not sure what your claim is based on, but I doubt seriously that a typical crow has the intelligence of a 7 year old human. Crows are smart, clever and exhibit skills, but measuring intelligence is more complex than just noting certain traits in the bird.

@@surfwriter8461my god look it up…..it’s TRUE…..wow….so tired of the ignorant always acting like they KNOW. I know you didn’t even bother to look it up….just assumed but of course you’re right. Dunning-Kruger much?

@@6Haunted-Days Cool down, sport. Just because a scientist has likened crow intelligence to that of a seven year old child doesn't make it true or even define what is meant. First, you have to define intelligence, in detail and in numerous uses and applications in which intelligence can be measured or described. Crows have great intelligence for their environment, so they are adaptive and inventive in many ways. It's a ridiculous comparison as well, since intelligence in a human involves many brain functions not necessary or available to the crow, and vice-versa. I've read about the results of somewhat limited studies on crows in terms of problem-solving, basic reasoning, social interaction, etc. But the skills and environmental conditions are very different between humans and crows. I'm not denigrating crow intelligence. I just rejected the simplistic comparison between a crow and a second-grader. Your reference to the Dunning Kruger effect is like the comparison between crow and human intelligence--simple-minded, narrow and inapt in context, and ridiculous in its application. Your comment is reactionary, juvenile, extremist and ad hominem. Wagering between you and a crow in basic intelligence, I would take the crow.

I remember in the 80s when I used to visit my grandma..A 15 year old boy in the street raised a Jack door from young..That bird used to come into my grandma’s garden every day and was tame and would let you feed it etc..Then one day it never showed up anymore and I was told someone had killled it..I was heartbroken for months and have never forgotten that beautiful bird..Humans can be so cruel to animals sometimes..This video brought back some great memories thankyou…Sending love to you and your bird from Leeds England ❤

When I was 12 I was eating some crisp and a jackdaw flew down and sat on my shoulder and shared them. He used to come see me every day for about a year. He would sit on my shoulder as I walked to school (much to the envy of my mates). When I got home from school and got near my street I would shout JACK! and he would fly down and stay with me 'til it was tea time. Then when I was in bed I would open the window and he would come in and sometimes stay all night. Loved that bird but then one day he just didn't appear. I'm hoping he just went off to be a proper bird and nothing horrid happened to him.

Raven birds are different from other birds. They have a real relationsship. We used to have a little magpie which had fallen out of the nest.. It was amazing. The bird is very well now, but we miss her.

I hope they see this comment. Please stay wherever it is you are, because wild crows live to be about 7-8 years. If you can't, then maybe consider bringing Russell with you. Maybe tag him in case he doesn't show up because he's hurt or trapped.

There is just something special about growing up with a bird like that. It helps to instill love, caring, gentleness and humanity into the young ones. So nice to see. I've never seen a crow that was black and grey, however. All the crows I've seen in my life are all black. My aunt had one and it was amazing. It was like this one where it just loved people. It could also talk. Crows are great mimics.
