Rachel, What is the furthest South in Michigan that you have found blueberries? We have cabin property in St. Clair county a half hour inland from Port Huron. I don't think there is suppose to be blueberries that far south?

They go farther south. I've seen them all the way down near the state line. But they aren't the little groundcover type you find all over northern Michigan. Down here they are shrubs. There are some that grow in hardwoods in damp areas. But mostly you have to find a way through the thickets and muck and get out into the bogs.

Good to know. I guess I will have to search near the little stream that goes through the hardwood forest. There aren't any bogs there. The whole forest is completely wild. Very thick with hardwood trees. No trails and very damp ground. The only place I saw mayapples was near the little stream but I only visited a tiny area near the stream. There is very little vegetation throughout most of it.
