I am endlessly fascinated by the fact that apparently all the characters are mutated farm animals hyper-evolved by a radioactive comet, and that... is just something that gets mentioned obliquely in the first thirty seconds of the first episode and then never comes up again. 90s cartoons, man. In the series, it focuses on trying to keep justice in the frontier territory. The lawbreakers were too much for the corrupt regulators of Cowtown (namely Mayor Oscar Bulloney and Sheriff Terrorbull) to handle by themselves. Helping them out, whether they wanted it or not, were a group of peacekeepers known as C.O.W.-Boys (the C.O.W. part is short for "Code of the West") led by Marshal Moo Montana and joined by the Dakota Dude and the Cowlorado Kid. Marshal Moo Montana and his two deputies had their hands full with several ruffians and outlaw gangs that plagued the otherwise peaceful town.

You know, I got this idea for a pilot for a reboot of this series, it's basically the same origin story for the series, but after a few years since the comet crashed, there's a town/city in Texas called Redwood City near the Mesa, where Moo Mesa is a tourist attaction from really far away, there's panic arcoss the town, as there seem to be news that there some criminals around outside the mesa, so the 3 C.O.W.-Boys go to check it out, a near by farm where some teens tipping cows, the 3 law cows catch them and scare them off, with one of teens little brother, Max, who was forced to come with his brother by his mother to spend time with his brother, can't believing his eyes, while the cowboys explore the town, Max stumbles across them, when a Pedofile tries to get his way with him, and the Cowboys stop him, after they meet for a little while, the gang of the teens from the other night, called "the Razor Burns", ambush the cows, but the cows find humans much harder to attack than other animals, so they retreat, and the Burns' leader, nicknamed "Ravage", captures Max, and after a brief talking, Minnesota Moo, goes to save Max at the junk yard, and at first it's too much for Moo, but the other two Cowboys come to save him, eventually they Defeat Ravage and the gang, but they escape as the police came to the scene, the next morning the news gathered security footage that the "cow-nty has a new law in town" with them saying that there men in cow suits and western gear patrolling the streets, eventually the Cowboys show Max and there older brother Cliff Moo Mesa, and swears to keep it a secret, and in exchange the Cowboys teach the two kids about the ways and Code of the West, and to be a better person, and the episode ends with the Masked Bull watching the news report through the TV, and answers the phone that "the secret's finally revealed" and that "it's time for the bull to strike the horns", what do you think, would that be a good idea?

Hmmm...were the COW Boys one the first ruminants to mutate? They all remember a "cow met" (lame pun) that rised the mesa. That indicates that mutation was rapid like with Ninja Turtles and most likely occured overnight. How did these cows managed to figure out how to speak english (or "cowish"), use tools, build homes, develop agriculture, animal husbandry, brewery, craftsmanship and the trade system? Even if they remember some things from their human masters (Were humans ever mentioned? I didn't watch the show.) the possibility of adapting the "code of the west" is very minimum. The more you think about this... Also since the mesa was rised "above the clouds" (remember the theme song), how are they able to breath at that aptitude? The wind should blow at great speed at the top. Not to mention there would be no rain. Another thing-what happened to the rest of the world? Is humanity extinct?

That's true, it just feels a little more odd to me than the Biker Mice or Ninja Turtles. They didn't ride another animal. But I honestly believe honeypot ants would have made more awesome steeds.

Alexander Walker Also I think that they don't know the proper terminology for cattle, because a cow is a female thus it should be "Cattle/bull of the year",but the title of the show is still right since it is an abriviation, and their knowlege of Steam engines is also lacking because there needs to be a conducter constantly putting coal into the tank of the engine and also the are very loud and I have no idea how the said conducter could sleep in there.

Alexander Walker I think that holstein is Cololrado or Cowlorado. Dakota is blue one.

Mirinovic Yeah they also tried to explain how there can be antropomorphic bulls in their universe, thus raising more questions, like how does a comet create an epicly large flat mountain out of thin air?How can a comet cause big evolutionary jump? Do the creators of the show even know what a comet is?Are our standards for televison show maybe too high today?Should we just accept the show as an entertaining little experiment?Did you know that this show run two episodes longer than cartoon network's "swat cats"?
