My son and I set out to walk the fabulous Ennerdale horshoe in the Lake district. We planned to do it over 2 days and wild camp.

But! The information about wild camping on the Lake District National Park site and the National Trust site has changed. It used to be somewhat encouraged and now there is an air of discouragement by stating it is not permitted without express permission. (Links below).
I wanted to find out if I could get permission so arranged to meet with a National Trust Lake district Park Ranger, after all they own 20% of the land including most of the central fells.

Would I get moved on, or would I get the OK?
Find out on the video!
The meeting with Ranger, Roy Henderson, went well and we had a good chat about the challenges of his work and what kind of wild camping is ok.
There are certain practices encouraged and essential. These are clear on the trust lakes site as linked below.
Join the National Trust and suppport the work of people like Roy, plus its really satisfying when you park for free on their car parks!
