When I was in high school I met Tommy. I was working at the rec department in my hometown and Tommy came and worked a show at our gym. I was the one who opened the gym up for the promoter and Tommy was with him. I got to help them set up the ring and hang out with Tommy before the show. He let me hold his replica ten pounds of gold and when I put it over my shoulder he told me that was disrespectful to west the belt over my shoulder. He said it’s a belt and meant to be worn around the waist. He also smoked a carton of cigarettes that afternoon. Lol

1:22:10 Tommy said "back then you had to put ten grand up for the belt" - can anyone elaborate a bit more about that?
@rodzor
Жыл бұрын
I only remember hearing about that when Flair had the debacle with leaving and taking the belt to the WWF, so basically this is what I could find to explain it more, ''the NWA World Heavyweight Champion had to put up a $25,000 security deposit to the NWA Board of Directors as a statement that they would not leave the company with the belt.'' I'm guessing when Rich is referring to it was a different belt and amount obviously.

That belt was probably worth 200 not 1200 so Jimmy CRownette probably saved himself 1K hah. You have to pay fees I think if a check bounces as I didn't even try when somebody wrote me one to avoid that. I'll never be able to forget his deformed finger but I have taped them together or toes. I can't seem to get the small one or next to it to heal. I think I broke like 3 or 4 of my toes on the same foot along with other issues heh. I kept thinking was going to need surgery like CM Punk for just jumping into crowd. Tommy can be difficult to understand at times its like you gotta sorta get into his cadence hehe. I can't believe the guy is still wrestling. Iron Sheik I think got more popular after he stopped wrestling from all this antics and interviews :).
