You may have to use a series/parallel or parallel/series orientation depending upon your specific needs. Then shrink wrap and connect each cell pack accordingly. You can even use wago connectors. Its fairly simple and makes for a totally solderless job virtually eliminating any tools needed....if you have a elementary level understanding of electrical (literally identifying "+" from "-") you can read, and able to do a little math; you can do it!!

If you read the specs on the mini amps, you will find that some are rated 12v-18v or 12v- 24v. I don't play music very loud, so an 18v tool battery will last several evenings around the campfire and super easy to swap in a fully charged battery.

Would love to see that video. I've been experimenting with them myself. Built a Bluetooth tower. At the bottom is a Pyle PLPW8D wired to 8ohm, on top of that is a Pyle PDMR5 , on top of that a Pyle PDMW5, on top of that is a quad of some cheap 5w 50mm mini Bluetooth woofers from Amazon that turned out to be some of the best highs I've ever used. I'm powering it with 2 TPA3110 XH-A232 1 each for the mid woofer and midrange and 2 PAM8403 for each pair of 50mm's and a TPA3116D2 for the 8. using a dell Optiplex 780 power supply to supply the various voltages now. In the design stage the Dewalt batteries were my best friend. Currently playing around with them more with different ways to use them to power the tower in the future to make it portable. I think going to need a few buck converters and and a step up converter to make it happen but well see.

I’ve ran that sub so fucking hard feeding it close to 800w rms from one of the new Pioneer D class monoblock amps and it hasn’t disappointed me yet. I built a 3.25cu ft, that’s usable airspace, custom enclosure from 3/4” Birch with a triple layer baffle, sub inverted and tuned it painstakingly to 32hz using around 17” in length and 6” inside diameter round green pvc port with flat ends, no flares only rounded over the pvc and I smile every time I get into my extended cab Nissan Frontier and that bass makes my fucking eyeballs shutter lol. I’ve completely drown out so many people running 2 12”s AND 2 15”s of some supposed “high end” subwoofers. I always get the same response “oh this system is new and I don’t have the right amp for my subs” or “this is my system I’m using until I get my “real” system” 🤣🤣. The second excuse for getting shit on is personally my favorite to hear 🤣🤣. Thanks for the great equipment and thanks for the yard sale so guys like me, a disabled combat Veteran on a fixed income with three young kids to take care of, can also have the opportunity to purchase great equipment at insanely low prices.

About trying the batteries in a car with music and bass and everything. These batteries has 5x 18650 batteries in serie 2p that mean 2 groups of 5x bat in series. They should be around 2000mah high drain battery each 18650 and the battery pack it self has a protective board that protect the batteries from be under discharged and prevent the amps current. Thanks for testing this man, I’ve been thinking about making a jump starter using four Dewalt battery adapters wired directly into jumper cables to start a few old cars. I’ve been having some alternator and battery problems on my mustang and I need to jump it often while fixing the electrical system. It’s a ‘66 so every electrical component on the car is mechanical aside from the radio. I assume under load the batteries will drop enough voltage to not harm the radio even though I see in this video it should handle that full 20v fine. I’ve done the calculations and Dewalt uses cells that can peak 50 amps each. So in a bigger pack with those cells wired in parallel each pack can put out at least 100 amps momentarily. So ~400 amps give or take should boost my car just fine.

@justin_womack

@@erictheboringone5292 No, that's not correct. The amp will take everything you give it, and most voltage-sensitive parts have an operable range that will protect it from running the wrong power. Mosfets are not one of those things, so if your amp has a "MOSFET Power Supply", then avoid over-voltage. It is true that you can never have too many amps (amperes, not power amps), because a system will only draw what it needs, but that's current, not voltage. You either need a transformer to step the voltage down or you need to use 12V drill batteries; most of the big manufacturers have 12V systems they sell for home/diy toolboxes.

Hell yes I wanna see the in car tests lol but this brings the question to my mind, what about making some real small lith capacitors or batteries like this size that you actually can run as a helper on say a 2k system where the lights are dimming?

You're better off with a lithium jumpstarter. They're at 12-15v. If you NEED it to be a drill battery, why not just the M-12 Milwaukee batteries? 12v all day. No worries. Each M12 battery has three 18650 batteries putting out 12v. Not only that, they sell Powerwheels adapters for those M-12 batteries so you can slap them in a power wheels car, and then recharge using the Milwaukee charger. They're $5 on ebay, and would make a great battery socket on a DIY boombox

I wanted to try that but I thought 20v was little too high something will burn if there no over voltage pertection. My be i should watch it all first if only I wasn't at work 😉

I have maybe 15 of these of which 6 are new 5Ah ones. They can be drained at 25-30A continuous no probs. Essentially with them having 90Wh i can tell you they will power anything using 90W for an hour or 180W for half hour...etc etc. If I put all of them in parallel I could power an Iron Man suit for a solid 2 minutes according to my calculations. Unfortunately my amp goes in protect mode even at 15v, wanted to power the sub with drill batteries when hanging out but no go until I change it. Or I buy a at least 150w step down converter.

I did a test with a 5amp 20v dewalt with a low voltage regulator to buck boost dropped down to 14.4 volts plays for about 5 hours on one battery using 2 speakers in a plastic drill box on med volume works fine but kinda heavy and not waterproof . I ended up using a amplifier similar to this you have to use the low voltage regulator set to 16.5v or you will not be able to charge the battery again

I've been doing the same with ryobi batteries. Fyi ryobi batteries have low voltage cutoff built into the battery. Dewalt low voltage cutoff is in the tools.
