Having tested this yesterday - absolutely not. It’s nice that there’s finally one app that can tether my XH2 to my ipad. It’s ridiculous that Lightroom Mobile can’t do this, and it’s annoying to have to pay an extra £5p/m for Capture One Mobile just for this feature, especially as the app itself is not very good.

I see NO utility in this- the back of camera image is fine for a quick check - and the editing functionality on the iPhone C1 (assuming it is the same as their iPad version) is basically useless for anything but basic adjustments (not much more than the basic Photo app!) When Davinci Resolve can give us a full featured iPad version for 8K RAW video (and at a single cost with no subscription) Capture One should be ashamed of their apps... I do like C1 on a laptop/desktop - but until the full functionality appears on an iPad these IOS apps are expensive toys IMHO.

I agree that there's more to be desired, but there isn't a doubt in my mind that they're working on it. The iPad app is fairly young. So maybe not as much utility now, but it still is an awesome tethering option

Capture One on mobile doesn't even support Phase One cameras other than those with the IQ4 back. Since I own a Phase One XF + IQ3 back, I've been totally abandoned in order to pressure me and other non-IQ4 customers into an IQ4 upgrade. But this is an epic miscalculation, as other platforms are now coming to market that challenge (and even surpass) the IQ4 in many areas for a mere fraction of the price. So going forward, additional investment dollars into the Phase One / Capture One platform is off the table, as the whole system has become long in the tooth at this point.

For photographers that say this is useless, they must not do long exposures with their camera on a tripod and using a wireless remote because that’s a perfect example of why this works if it did work because it’s not for me

Nice sales pitch for Captuer One. I assume you must have been paid for this glowing review. I find the new iPhone app a joke comared to Lightroom mobile for editing. When trying to edit photos the sliders appear to be designed by a grade school kid with some slider max at 30, 100, and even 1000; why not have them all go from 0 to 100? the sliders appear to have little effect on the photo that I can see when moving them. But the worse part is the $5 per month price for a product that is only about 5% capability of other apps like lightroom mobile. The only feature that I see that Capture One has is the tethering. Then there i the cloud service, which is a bigger joke than the overpriced Capture One for iphone. They want $15 a month for a cloud service that photos are trashed and deleted every 30 days? who came up with this concept, why would anyone pay $15 month when I can get 2TB of storage on Dropbox for $120 per year vs the $180 per year for Capture One for only 30 days of storage for photos? That is what I call a real deal for Captuer One where they can rip off their customers. Im glad that other cloud services know that Capture One has one heck of a rip off deal going for their customers. Dont get me wrong I like the Captuer One for the desktop it has a lot of great features but their new rip off products are a joke, I guess the sales staff must have taken over the company beacuse they are not doing their customers and servie by provide poor products at impossible prices

Is there are a landscape orientation to the app? Makes possible a more steamlined setup to mount the phone on the hotshoe if not flash is needed. If not hope C1 can see this and consider implementation. Curious to see a Camera To Cloud via FrameIO vs C1 iphone/ipad comparison.

My understanding is that it's based on the limited resources they have on their development team. I'm assuming it's not quite the same as what Adobe has. But then again, I'm not a developer, so I really have no idea what that process includes.

the iPad version will bee cool when they manage to iron out the many bugs and add some ridiculous basic things like a curve tool or live view. the iPhone version is a gimmick but maybe I´m too old to see the advantage of looking at a tiny iPhone preview instead of a camera lcd but considering that young professionals are more and more unable to build a sustainable business or even buy cameras and tools seen as standard equipment for older generations welcome such a toy- app....

Just tested the CaptureOne app for iPhone and I got to say I am dumbfounded by some of the limitations such as NOT BEING ABLE TO VIEW IMAGES IN LANDSCAPE mode. I have iPhone 15 Pro Max on a camera hotshoe mount placed horizontal over my hoteshoe mount and have to review images by turning the camera to vertical position. The ipad is bigger screen and can rotate between vertical and horizontal. Also how the hell do you remove the BIG Camera Controls floating window? This window is so annoying as it hides the thumbnails. Can't believe this is a $5+ a month subscription. The app is also extremely limited in functionality, too. What a waste of money. I love Capture One for desktop and seems to be made by a bunch of a bunch of morons.
