An animation based of the internet meme / comic strip, "Will I ever be as good as the old masters?" However, this time with a twist, by incorporating countryballs / polandballs. The video features countryballs of empires stretching all the way back from modern to medieval to ancient times. In particular, revolving around some of the empires which have claimed to be successor states to the Roman Empire.

Context:
Fascist Italy was on the losing side of WWII, and as a result inflation, depression etc was rampant. The Ottomans were in control of lucrative trade routes to the East, meaning they were a very rich nation.
However, the Ottoman Empire in its waning years was considered to be the 'sick man of Europe'. The HRE was one of the longest lasting empires.
The Holy Roman Empire faced the brunt of the Protestant Reformation, and the ensuing 30 Years' War, a conflict between the breakaway sect of Christianity, Protestantism, against the dominant Catholicism. But Constantinople, the then capital of the Byzantine Empire was one of the five great Holy Cities during the Middle Ages.
During the 4th Crusade, crusaders meant to assist the Byzantines turned on them sacking Constantinople. Which is despite claiming to be inheritors to the glory of Rome, a country highly respected, and considered to be the pinnacle of European civilisation.
But the Roman Empire did have its flaws, as it was never able to defeat the Persians to the East. Very dissimilar to Alexander the Great, who led the Macedonian armies to a stunning victory over the Persians.
So, is the Macedonian Empire the first great European empire?
