There is a rod that run from the drivers spot to the injector pump that is used to stop the engine, At the swivel point of the lever on the injector pump is a button. Before starting this button needs to be pushed/pressed in. If not, it will start difficult or not at all.

@@joesgarage8372 my grandpa had one of these! Oh, man, I remember that tractor clearly! His had weights on the rear wheels and a brush guard on the front I do have pictures of it. It was a great tractor! One thing I do remember about it is if it got below 20° you would have to give it a shot of summer in a can to get it to start in the winter being a little kid I thought this tractor could pull anything! I clearly remember it being on the machine that bale hay. unfortunately though after he passed away, it was sold at the auction I wish I still had it!

@Rudy Carlson that's a shame it was a sold. All my fordsons are just ones I have bought over the years but to have a family one would be something special

I'm writing this before you get going. Those tractors were virtually indestructible so I'm betting it will start.

I PUT A LOT OF DAYS ON THE MAJOR, POWER MAJOR AND DEXTA. GREAT TRACTORS. THE MAN I WORKED WAS ROBERT GEORGE. HE WAS ORIGINALLY FROM SCOTLAND.

I have a Super Major. I'm stuck trying to get a pulley . For the new water pump bought for it. Hasn't been an easy task getting parts for it.

It really depends on your location, but getting parts out of the uk isn't too hard

@eliaspiraino2814 that could be tricky. Your probably best to start ringing around the tractor salvage yards in your local area then work your way outwards from there. Shipping one out of Australia or UK would be very expensive

Did you have the cold start button pushed in ? I don't think shes that clapped may be a stuck or clogged injector new filters check lift pump delivery .great little tractor ! I have a power major , but the super has bettter brakes and up graded hydraulics., there so simple to repair if you can read a workshop manuel and have a reasonable tool kit ths layman can do a fair bit of work on them , i think they would have to be the cheapest tractor to rebuild in Australia partswise and doing the work yourself plus utube helping .R

I did use the cold start button. When I bought the tractor years ago I did a lot of work on the injection pump so most of that is good but I haven't had the injectors out of it ass yet. The main issue I found was its low on compression. Yeah I agree the super major is a far better tractor but my power major is still my favourite. I will do a bit more investigation into this engine but it's getting replaced eventually so I don't want to spend much money on it
