With a chassis the same size of a D8, the 983 is an impressive piece of equipment. It was the largest crawler loader ever until Komatsu introduced their D155S with a 6-yd bucket. I hope after all that snow melts up there that you guys will take another stab at it in the springtime and get it running.

@@upstategearheadseasy enough to do. Try to get a hold of another machine to lift the bucket to the top while holding the lift lever in the cab. Than make a boom safety stop out of some heavy angle line and I bolts

Looks like you might have a seal out between trans and final drive to have that much oil flow out of final
@5337kb
Жыл бұрын
Yeah, that's what I'm saying. Those final drives only take enough oil to cover about 1/4 of the bull gear, if it pukes like that it's a tell tale sign that the final drive axle seal is blown

So that mufflers rotted out do you know how long it's been sitting there because if the stack never had a cover on it and the mph is all rotted out you'll have stuff on top of the piston plus water and that will stop it from turning over I heard you say you couldn't turn the fan to turn the motor and the muffler is all rusted out that's what I say it is water has got down and rust on top of the pistons pistons pull the head off and hopefully that's all it is easy to Freedom up Queen all the s*** away from the distance Scottish you can get put a bit of oil or diesel in each piston and try a couple of starts should free up and then you clean the bowls write out and hopefully that will solve it and I don't know where I'm right but I have struck that before that's all it was so I hope that helps you are I would love to see it running so that helps you put your mind at rest was when you said that stack was all rusted out you couldn't turn on engine over backflip I've had that done I managed to get them running and I'm excited as user to get that old girl running so thank you I hope that works I love to see you started so thank you for your video I just love the normal machines Ray formula land down under Australia thank you❤❤❤❤🎉😊

Hopefully, but I think our next angle of attack would be to replace the starter. Unfortunately to do that though I think we'll have to raise the loader somehow to access the side of the engine better. That may require a pretty massive excavator or crane though

I am sorry, even though you sound like a down to earth guy! (NO arrogance) I will give you respect for driving four hours? to try to get a bulldozer/loader Cat going? First off you get the date of manufacture, model serial number, engine serial number off the motor plate? and access or borrow , or buy a used shop manual for this machine! Caterpillar has a manual for every machine ever built by them! You should have also went to the trouble of hiring a competant bulldozer mechanic as well! very heavy booster cables, and two proper batteries fully charged! Also a ammeter clamp style to read the current draw when cranking! that would tell you the health of the starter! Also it was well worth a proper heavy equipment mechanic with good tools and experience to be with you!! also a man with the experience to look at the undercarriage and know??? what shape it is in! That way you will know if the machine can handle your contemplated job? without breaking down on you! Also know? how much it would cost to transport that machine from A to B ? big bucks I am sure! heavy machinery is NO JOKE FOR SURE! I WILL GRANT YOU CREDIT FOR BEING CALM! BUT IT IS AWFULLY A LONG WAY TO DRIVE ?? ON A LICK? AND A PRAYER? ALSO , IT IS EASY FOR FOLKS WHO ARE CLUELESS TO SAY THIS AND THAT! THEY MAY BE VERY WELL INTENTIONED! BUT YOU, HAVE GOT TO BE THE ADULT IN THE ROOM! I WOULD LOVE TO SEE YOUR FACE? WHEN YOU GET A QUOTE FOR A TRANSPORT COMPANY SPECIALISING IN HEAVY EQUIPMENT MOVING? TO LOAD, AND TRANSPORT THAT BULL? EVEN IF IT IS RUNNING FINE! AND MOVE IT SAY 20 MILES? BIG, BIG MONEY! FLAGS ON THE DOZER BLADE? PERMITS? WEIGHT RESTRICTIONS ? WHERE IS IT GOING? THE ROUTE? ( THE WHOLE NINE YARDS) AND WAIT TILL YOU SEE THE COSTS OF REPAIRING A MACHINE THAT SIZE? GOOD LUCK YOUNG MAN! kennethzakaib607@gmail.com
