I sure hope not! I feel like the human part of it is essential to recovery even though I know very little about physiotherapy if I'm honest, but I definitely agree that it requires emotions! And just humanness! And someone you can talk to in order to get some sort of psychological relief to support physical healing.

Assuming technology improves at the rate it currently does, it will be inevitable until robots have the capability to take all jobs. I don't think they will be able to replace physiotherapists within the next few decades since their movement and levels of empathy have a long way to go until they get to our level. However, with regards to virtual reality, there was a meta-analysis published in 2020 that looked into how effective virtual reality is for treating stoke patients, and they found that there wasn't enough good data to work with to have a conclusion yet. So I think it's safe to say we have a few years before any dramatic changes are made :)

Not a chance. A robot will not have the patience or human compassion to explore psychosocial difficulties in recovery. A robot won’t be able to support a hemiplegic patient on a ward or understand the reasoning behind 50 year old Martha not wanting to lift her arm because she’s scared of the pain
