James Dean, like many of us, had an unfulfilled need for fatherly love. I believe James Dean was looking to fulfill that. So strongly represented in his portrayal of Cal in East of Eden.

I bought a book about james dean called bolouvard of broken dreams back in the late 1980s, he was known as the human ashtray ,how he survived in newyork sexually, to get acting jobs he had a death wish ,if you want to know the real James dean you have to buy the book, but I must buy willy's book as dean called him ,

He didn’t have the guts to say it in the original book then what does it matter if he says it now?

I think he exaggerated his intimate relationship with Jimmy. I thought it was odd how in his book he goes into detail about sleeping with girls, but when it comes to him and Jimmy supposedly sleeping together, he only says Jimmy gave him a hug and pec on the lips and that they slept together in the same bed but didn't actually have sex. Another thing that struck me as odd was how he accuses people of being "users" of Jimmy but then admits that he was using Jimmy himself. I found his holier-than-thou and sanctimonious attitude off-putting.

@Nick Xero he published a biography a month after JD died and then waited until all other contemporary people were dead to publish a book about his alleged romance. He even produced a shitty movie about James Dean in the 70s. If that's not exploitative i don't know what is.
