@1967wazzy to each their own opinion however he doesn't float around all year if he is as consistent as he is. Maybe the key to his consistency is his ability to know when to turn it on and turn it off. It's a long season and no play is playing 120 percent every shift they would be burnt out by game 50.

William Nylander - the most underrated athlete in the history of sport ...why? because some semi upright, simple minded, punch drunk members of the media have repeatedly pontificated that Nylander and Marner are to soft. While they have been forced to except these players are gifted as of late why the hell would you want a players like these, Marner, Nylander, Gretzky and alike to hit anyone with their hands of pure gold or take a hit while possessing a hockey 'IQ' of an 'ai' developed post 2045. Its like asking me to trade my 450 timberjack for a ferrai to draw logs logs threw the back 500 of the Kawartha highlands. when i heard Jay Rosehill say the leafs need to trade marner because he didn't punch back when in a tussle with Tkachuk (by the way he DID ! at :24 in associated SN video) in the spring is akin to suggesting Gretzky should have been traded for not dropping the gloves every time he was challenged- insane. Kids listen to these clowns and take it into the game causing some to have to live their lives with a debilitating injury for a stupid game which is in part why hockey enrollment has recently been eclipsed by soccer, checking is supposed to be 'angling' not murder. While i love the physical play afforded by players like Reaves doing what they do best id rather see players like Marner have longer career's rather then being 'side swiped' or punched out of their career's prematurely. i would also rather see Reaves play hockey, he's really quite good, rather then appease the knuckle draggers of our game and put some poor guy on a stretcher. But what the f....k does a dumb lumber jack-off no eh??

As a Swede myself I can wholeheartedly say that William Nylander cares... deeply... about everything! It's a Swedish trait to act like it's no big deal, not wanting to make oneself bigger then you are or the situation bigger then it is. Jantelagen! And what come's off as kind of cocky is actually quite a bit of shyness that we then mask with smiles and laughs. Just that little bit about him worrying about his dogs is quite revealing that he has the biggest heart and the same with how much he cares about Rasmus Sandin. Gotta love him!! He is so dangerous and unpredictable in his play and just a pure offensive talent even more then Matthews and Marner so cough up the dough he´s worthy of Toronto!

Thanks for clarifying. I'm a lifelong Leafs fan and Nylander has probably been my favourite player to watch in the last 5 years. I've been getting some bad vibes from him lately (and toque during summer and the kinda douchey earring definitely didn't help)...I started to question whether Nylander was actually smug and only cared about money and status. But I can understand that cultural differences may play a role in his presentation. Perhaps the problem was my worsening perception of him due to the media constantly talking trash about him.

I'm no fan of the Leafs or of any of the corpse 4, actually Tavares excluded. Matthews is now signed for $13.25M, the highest in the league. Marner when he is up in 2 years likely will get at least $12M. Tavares, also up in 2 years, will have to take a cut from $11M to, say, $8M. The 3 of them when added up will be in the $33M-$34M range. In light of that, Nylander really does deserve the $10M he reportedly is wanting. Toronto would be wise to meet his terms and extend him and keep the corpse 4 together.
