An alamo is a kind of poplar tree that grows in the US southwest. It literally means big tree. Compare that mental image with a mushroom cloud and tell yourself it's all coincidence.

Alamagordo, NM - near Holloman AFB. Spanish: "Big Fat (poplar) tree" (alama) Botanical name for Aspen (Álamo temblón) and White/Black poplars.

Cobain is a very significant artist to me, and his songwriting explosively changed the mainstream -- but you've got to hear the 'Spare Ass Annie' LP version of Junky's Christmas. It's set to a piece compiled by The Disposable Heroes of HipHoprisy (who actually opened for Nirvana on a few occasions) -- something about it compliments the 'streetiness' of Burroughs' writing superbly
