This is a great album. I am not kidding. I bought it when it came out in 2002. I love it.

Who else is watching this in 2020? In isolation. Trying hard not to touch your face. Waiting for the apocalypse to fully kick in. Rethinking your stance on owning a gun. Wishing there would've been at least one loaf of bread left at the store because you'd already gotten a pound of shaved ham from the deli. Rethinking your stance on making wraps with tortillas. Lamenting your toast-less future.

5-27-2020. Half way through pandemic lockdown, and William Shatner is indeed, still alive. Thanks for this wonderful song Bill and thanks for just being the coolest dude next to Kieth Richards.

Agree. It is a fantastic album. Amazing guest producers and writers on it. It's a rare insight into his personal history and perspective on life. I try and tell people to give it a listen and they without fail laugh out loud at my suggestion. Back in the early 2000's I shot(I'm a videographer for NBC) and interview with him when he was promoting Boston Legal. My sound guy and I had been given the album on a previous shoot with the head of the Grammys. He had said to check it out and gave us promo copies. We both gave it a listen and absolutely loved, it. So when the interview with Shatner was over we both mentioned to him how much we like the album. He looked at us like we were from Mars. "Really!!?? You two are about the only ones who do" he said as he turned and left the room without missing a beat. We about fell down laughing thinking of it the rest of the day. It's still one of our most cherished funny memories from our times in the entertainment industry. LOL. Still love that album...even if I'm the only one.

"The song is way more about how you're gonna die". Not really. It's about the fact that when you die, you'll have time to think about how you should have lived more (assuming you didn't seize every opportunity you had when you were alive). I believe it's more about the urgency to "Carpe Diem" :) Great video for the song. Well done.

Normally I'd be supportive, but in this specific instance I have to disagree. This album's genius was the producer, Ben Folds. He harnessed Shatner's skills to their greatest potential and made an entire album of awesome stuff. Shatner's other musical endeavors... Nnnnnot so much.

Did you come here after seeing "Shatners Gonzo Ballet" on Netflix? I did, and have listened to every song on the album all day on You Tube, and ordered the cd on Amazon so I can have it for the car. And while I have always thought William Shatner seemed like an OK guy, I am starting to think he is some kind of genius now.
