Ive done the same on a mitsubishi van, took me 1hr just to get gearbox back in place . the next time was 30minutes, the third time about ten minutes of wiggling. this guy knows his splined shafts well. A good alignment tool probably helps.

Those boxes get heavier with time its nice to have them slide in! Had a customer drive into the yard and I could see she had no fingers, I thought hello her clutch is gone!

The gearbox input shaft has slight play in it normally so when slotting it back in it can be a real challenge to slide the shaft into the crank pilot bearing. Even with the clutch perfectly centered it can just be a general b@#ch to slot in.

No idea why KZitem recommended this but I have to say it was great to watch! I always dread booking the car in for repairs because you don't get to see mechanics at work in a garage and don't know how good (or bad) they might be. You need a cheeky pop up gazeebo or some sort of pop up tent just to Go over the front of the motor that way You stay fairly dry then whilst working on motor in crap conditions..

Watching you work is immense, the fact it took me 5 hours to do a DMF and clutch on a 175 Megane with the help of a friend on a ramp! Plus you do it 5 days a week minimum, I'm done after a day working on the car lol

All my respect. You work on rain and snow and sun. Yesterday I changed the gearbox for a clio 2, in the garage. It only took me 3 hours to get to the box .... I hate cars with transverse engines ... I don't have many tools, but it took me a change; 8 hours of box ... I had to take the drums down, engine frame, steering box ... a lot of work. I appreciate you for everything you do, especially when you are outside, in the rain, in the current, in the cold. All the best and I'm still watching you. Yesterday, I applied the motoda with 4 support goats. I was safer.

I have done full rebuilds on the R53 and the R56. I was nowhere near your skill level. it took me 3 days to get the engine out of the 53. And I did the head swap on the 56 on the subframe. The 53 got a thumper conversion and a Sprintex TVS. You are the real hero here man.

I saw this guy a couple of weeks ago for the first time and was impressed. The time for an oil change on my car was just around the corner so I decided to do it when it was raining outside thinking it was nothing compered to this. I can tell you it was straight hell, coudnt get the filter loose beacuse the guy before be tightend it so damn hard and it sat in a "hard" place, my wrenchset was sooked and later rusty... Madman this one.

This is clutch changing as an art form ... a professional man repeating the same task day after day and developing all the skills that go with it ... not a tool out of place, not an ounce of energy wasted, each job planned to the last detail and at the end he sprays his tools as he puts them away because he knows ... look after them and they’ll look after you. My only wonder is what is the cut-off age for lying under a car and lifting the gearbox?

People these days take everything for granted. My man here worked his ass off in horrible conditions. And those people often get a "You should have taken another job instead, this is bullshit." Instead of a "Hey man I really appreciate you helping me out here's a fiver."

Rear wheel drive clutch replacement is the fastest and easiest to do. Unlike that Mini... that is a shit show of a car.. LOL
