We had a few days in Williamsburg, so this is part two. More museums! It's hot out (38C / 100F - heat wave) and let's not forget KITT doesn't have aircon ... and museums do. Plus we like history. We visited Yorktown, which was a key location in the revolutionary war to gain independence from the British. Like Jamestown, it had a great outdoor "living history" area with costumed guides to provide context - here an army camp, with infantryman, quartermaster and surgeon; and a period farm where they grow vegetables and meat (butcher and salt their own pork). We also visited the Mariners Museum in Newport News, with the very interesting remains of the wreck of USS Monitor, an "ironclad" ship from the Civil War, plus a gallery on the America's Cup. We also popped into an evening car show (too hot for much of a turnout though!)
