Excellent review. I've always found the 98 16x19 Blade disappointingly flimsy and lacking in substance. QC is also really bad. Your video confirms it! Better to buy a Furi Arma Pro 98, or Babolat Pure Strike 98 instead.

I just switch to the v9 18x20 ( I was using the v8 18x20 )and I do feel the difference between the v8-v9 I really appreciate they soften up the frame a bit, my stick came in 333 sw with string locally I usually play with 335 sw so to me it’s not a problem but I know for other person it wouldn’t be easy to hit with Wilson QC suck man they really should step up and do something about it Great content tan 🔥🔥 keep it going

Great in depth review, thank you! I would like to try it and have a set of hyper g 1.15 at hand, could you recommend a tension? I usually play blade v8 with cyclone tour 1.30. Maybe comparable to your tour bite soft tensions?
@tantennis
7 ай бұрын
Not sure why 1.30 to 1.15. It will be a lot of changes. Tension I would say 50lbs+- to remain control and not very bouncy.
@Tk9008_de

@@tantennis thank you for the quick reply Tan! I need to be careful with my joints but look for something more crisp and more feel than the 1.30 vct while keeping great spin potential. I choose 1.30 mainly for tension maintenance reason which is an issue with cyclone tour, and it already is rather bouncy I think.

That’s weird cuz my Blade 98 demo with a 3 g dampener measured 332 swingweight. It definitely packs a good punch and hits a bigger shot than Percept 97 and Shift 99. Your particular Blade 98 is way under spec. Try a heavier 1.

great review thanks! I'm curious as to how long the tour bite soft 17 lasts in your racquets before you change it out?
@tantennis
7 ай бұрын
Depends on rackets. I would say I get 6 good hours before it starts losing tension. On Blade it doesn’t matter as I can play even better with loose string, but on other rackets it could begin to be an issue.

@@tantennis I still struggle to figure out when a poly is no longer playable. Is it when it looses snapback? Or when the ball starts flying out? Or when it loses power? I've had 1.25mm confidential in my clash 100 V2 for 2.5 months, playing 3-4 times per week, and it still feels OK. But not sure if that's the string, or the flexible frame of the clash that makes it feel OK?
@tantennis
7 ай бұрын
@vaderg5272 depends on behavior of the string. But normally when it doesn’t snap back into places. Some string like RPM blast will lose power when it’s dead and super stiff. Solinco normally becomes mushy and spray balls out.

How would you conpare this to v7? I know v7 was a bit more head heavy than v8 and had a bit more heft is it similar with this? I enjoyed v7 with around 340 swingweight and a stiffer string it did everything very well. Talking about 16x19 v7. I just love this new paintjob it would automatically make me like it a tad more :D Hated the v8 look

If you like v7 I think you would like this one. The feel is pretty similar but a bit more responsive and doesn’t feel the throat flex. Other than feel I don’t think it plays very differently at the same SW.

How does the V8 Noir compare to V9, any more pop? I demoed the V8 98 and was surprised that hits near the edge felt unstable. I'm now using V8 100 but at times think I should be playing a 98". For the last 5 years I've been using 95" Dunlop Bio 200s at 370g so sort of got used to more precise style.
