You're fishing in depths where catching a fish is fatal to the fish if you release them normally. If you're gonna fish in 30ft+, you need to either be keeping what you catch, or reel in very slow and be prepared to use a fish descender. The only exception to this is certain species like trout or salmon, they can actually burp to release pressure. Very unsportsmanlike.

Must of been fishing deep, using downriggers and the walleyes eyes were popped out. That fish died, even if small it was wasted meat. That's something a true fisherman would never do.

@ERIC PAULSEN Any fiberglass walleye/multispecies brand, be it Triton, Ranger, Warrior, Skeeter, Yar-craft, or Tuffy, will all perform in these conditions significantly better than a Lund.
@NytronX

@ERIC PAULSEN Fiberglass hulls have strakes and chines which are impossible to achieve with an aluminum hull. They're also heavier and foam filled. The result is a hull that cuts through the water better, tracks better when you're fishing, and sprays the water outward farther when running, resulting in a dryer ride. Fiberglass is also more stable front to back and side to side. Despite being heavier, fiberglass can be made more efficient regarding speed and fuel efficiency. Aluminum hulls slap the water when landing between waves, fiberglass boats land soft.

@ERIC PAULSEN The IPS2 features are half-measure imitations of what is possible with fiberglass. It is simply impossible to design an aluminum hull with the same bow flare, strakes, chines as a fiberglass hull. Lund is the best aluminum boat manufacturer, but their aluminum models don't ride as smooth as any of the top fiberglass competitors. Nothing against Lund, I grew up in aluminum Lunds, for example, a Lund's Pro V GL fiberglass models ride smoother than the Pro V 2175 and the Baron 2275.

On LOW you do need to be prepared for these storms to pop up. So much lake, you may be an hour from home. We ran a big PenYann on this lake, very wide, big block engine, mid to upper 20's in length. It would eat these waves for breakfast, not an issue, tunnel drive as well since it is such a shallow lake. I see a lot of bigger Lund Deep-V's with full canopies up here, those are ideal. You do not want a bass boat in a storm here, or a pontoon. Big heavy boat, you may pay in gas, but when a sqall and near 10' waves come from nowhere you will be thankful. Best fishing Lake in the USA, unreal lake, untouched islands, most of which you can camp on unless its a native american island.

No, the Walleys in this lake on a good day are all upper 20's. One after another. Beautiful lake. Explore some islands, Oak and Flagg are cool.

man, a true fisherman wouldn't do this. and for crying out loud quit reeling htem from deep so fast and just tossing them back in the water... probably turned into dead floating walleye. Shame.

Who are you, a fishing god and fortune teller? If you know how to drive in conditions, how to get through these waves and have purchased a 21' or better boat, you're good in this stuff, I would not take a bass boat up here, Lund Deep V, yes, full canopy or at least partial, yes, its really not a problem, also, generally help is not far if you have a radio. We pulled a lot of people in using our PenYann with the 400ci Ford. Huge wide boat, good drought but tunnel drive. would be a pretty smooth ride through this stuff under the hard top. They rent 16' Lunds with 30hp tillers, unless you know this lake, and weather, I would not recommend, in anycase, if youre out on a choppy day on one of those, youre back is going to be sore. These waves are fishable in a bigger Lund and definately a PenYann boat. Walleyes in this lake are worth taking some rough weather. Guided fishing is your best bet up here.

If he was running a crankbait in 30 foot which was what was shown on the graph is it really going to kill it?
