The Windshear is a change in wind direction and intensity.
This weather phenomenon will cause turbulence and changes in the aircraft parameters.
The wind change during the Windshear can be both horizontally and vertically.
The Windshear occurs at low levels, close to the ground.
This wind change phenomenon is dangerous during the take-off and landing phases because it changes the energy state of the aircraft when close to the ground.
If you fly through a Windshear you will experience, first headwind, which will increase the Indicated Airspeed and the lift, then a tailwind that will make the aircraft to sink and the Indicate Airspeed to decrease rapidly.
So, it is important to react quickly and precisely when encountering a Windshear.
There is a specific wind shear escape maneuver procedure that you have to execute if you fly into a wind shear. This procedure change depending on the type of aircraft.
However, the main goal of the escape procedure is to maintain a positive rate of climb and a safety speed (normally the V2 during takeoff) that keeps the aircraft safe.
If the Aircraft is equipped with a weather radar you can have an idea where you could find wind shear by looking at the clouds formation shown in the radar.
Very often the Windshear is due to big summer cumulonimbus clouds.
The Pilots will do his/her best not to fly right below or above a CB
However, the clouds are not the only cause of wind shear, the terrain orography can also produce this weather phenomenon.
In this case, the wind change and the turbulence are the factors to use when recognizing a windshear situation.
Some aircraft are equipped with the PWS (Predictive Windshear System) that sends caution and warnings signals to the pilot when encountering a windshear.
