It's all terminology what you call covering the area I call an advanced block and/or counter strike whatever you want to call it. I agree with you it's not good enough to just block it's better to have a plan and cover an area and already have a section of your body blocked as you show in this scenario. Great work

I have a problem with your kicks and mauy tai type spinning recovery. The reason we don't do front kick like that (I think it's your son doing them in the video) is because is your attacker steps in or you get the distance wrong you are going to have your own knee hit you in the chest and knocked down. If the knee is off centre, heel on centre, and the same thing happens you are able to step back into stance without getting knocked (at least less likely) it also seems like more of a push kick, less damaging. Also there is no low shin follow through kick in Wing Chun either and extra spin high knee tai like cover. This I because you know you have exposed your back and taking your eyes off your opponent which a certain famous martial artist said you should never do. So why do this. Its obvious that you have come from another style and this is your interpretation Wing Chun but just adding things that don't follow the principles of Wing Chun don't make sense to me.

I Respect the Wing Chun Technical Principle. However Is It effective on a street fight. ? A good boxer would have the advantage on a street fight

Why would he ? Bit of a negative attitude. Rather, I think a good Wing Chun guy would have the advantage in a street fight.

@@pauldunlea3669 sparring isn't real, sparring is not real street fighting. If someone jumps you or swings for you in a crowed pub do you Spar....no. Wing Chun is for that kind of situation

@@ninjafeet7915 I think we can respectfully disagree mate. I am actually not a boxer myself but I think it is more practical. Have great respect for Wing Chun though.

Tysm Sifu, these vids clear up so much for me :D i have a question regarding weighted clothing is it recommended to wear it during wing chun trainin/ resistance training to build up strength? or is it bad for you?

Love it Sifu, I think another important distinction to make that you have taught me over the years is that even if the attack you set up for doesn't come or turned out to be a fake or bluff that you fully commit when covering, again because we are COVERING the area where we are vulnerable and not relying or waiting for that attack to come.

Neither block nor cover wont win any fight. In self defence situation in most cases youll be behind as you are not the one who attack first. So the idea of combining defence with attack is an appealing one . Nice vid
