I try to feel and visualize as if myself and the other is working (or hitting) on a rock piece to sculpture or melting a block of ice with hits. They hit and I am free to respond with the next appropriate movement or action with felt-sense. That way there is always presence to do the sculpting though externally it looks like fighting. Sometimes we could be hitting at our own fear of fight or our own blocked energies.

Yes, in essence that is true. However, this is only in the beginning a thought process. I the end it is just a conditioned body programming. But how to train to get there is the key - relaxation, footwork, sensitivity, structure.. etc etc

Thank you for sharing. The concepts are well conveyed, as well as, practical. The discussion about rep-ing it out is so under discussed. There are no short cuts to accomplishing anything of value. One addition, I would add, is that some of the reps can be accomplished mentally, by visualizing the movements. Trusting the concepts of Wing Chun does seem to take some time.

Hi, Sifu! A well stated and often overlooked or misunderstood aspect of training! 👍
