Depending on the tear, sometimes I do. But if it’s a clean line, 1 inch is plenty and the standard of professional repairs. Remember we don’t want to add weight. 1 inch on both sides sewn will never fail ever.

The clear sticky backed tape is best for bladders. The tape for bladders is Tear Aid Type A and if applied clean, it sticks forever and can make a bladder with even a big hole good as new. This is nylon ripstop tape which you can order from kiteboarding.com it comes in white or black usually. There is also a Dacron version that can be used on leading edges, but repairing a leading edge is a much more involved repair.
