I was rated after retiring (29yrs) at 90% (2010) and hired an attorney in year eleven. Sent in original records and additional VA records during my spinal cord stimulator being implemented. received my 100% in Dec 2021. I'm 64 and don't move well with 6 bulging disks and C4-C6 fusion. Injury in Desert Storm.

Thank you for all the information I’m a Vietnam combat veteran and I hurt my back on a fire base of course in those days they didn’t keep very good records I was able to prove the incident happened but of course they said my degenerative disc and spinal stenosis and my neck surgery and my lower back surgery had nothing to do with the incident I only wish I had all this information when I started all this nonsense they denied me but I am 50% disabled PTSD working on an increase hopefully thanks again good luck to everybody that is dealing with the VA

I was told by the VA they do not except any claims for back injuries. I ruptured a disk in my back while lifting a 900 series truck tailgate by myself in Desert Storm. I tried to claim it and the VA automatically denied it without a C&P exam.

What it be into best interest to mention that I suffer from osteoarthritis and sciatica during my exam ? However, I have yet to get rated for my back injuries. Or should I just stick with LBP, and then file for sciatica and osteoarthritis secondary to LBP ?

I only had 4 years of active duty time, but did an additional 16 years in the Reserves (obviously a good mix of active duty training days and drill time). I just got my results back from my claim and had a bunch of favorable findings but nothing service connected because they only looked at the active duty time. Am I just out luck?

Thank you for the informative video. I currently have a rating of 10% for spondylolisthesis I am wondering how difficult it is to have an increase in disability for the DDD with double sciatica that I now have. My neurosurgeon is talking fusion of the S1 - L4 (two-layer fusion). Do you have any thoughts on the matter? Thanks again. ~John 2/15/2023 UPDATE! After several C&P exams, I was awarded an increase from 10 to 20% for the spondylolisthesis and 20% for radiculopathy in each leg and I still have 10% for tinnitus. My new rating is 60%. I would like to appeal the decision, but I don't know what will happen to my award since I had L5/S1 fusion done during the C&P process. Would the surgery be proof that my situation was worse than what the VA thought? Will it reduce my award since I had the surgery? I don't know. Take care.

I have a 40% rating for my documented back injury. The injury has degraded my life. I don't do any of the activities I did before the injury, hiking, jogging, bowling. I'm in pain all the time. I gave up working because I couldn't handle the pain, and the VA cut me off of oxycodone. My VSO says 40% is good and I should be happy with the rating, is he right ?
