Thank you for everything you do Brendan, as always, you give us a fantastic and unvaluable perspective of all these great athletes' lives. And for Marta, non potremmo essere più felici di vederti in forma e felice dopo quello che hai passato!

Marta is now my favorite cyclist in the women’s pro peloton. Very classy and a great personality.

Good interview. I particularly like the part of about (I assume) lower body lifting throughout the year. I was doing better with this in the early season but it still was affecting my Ultra-goal. Next year... no Ultra goa, strictly USAC racing.

It's so refreshing to hear talk about strong back. Bike fitting is so big in cycling but i hear very little talk of actual biomechanics of cycling. It seems we, as general public, still don't have idea how body acts as whole on bike. Bike fitters are physios generally so i'd think they do consider this, but i've not heard this trickle down. I have had my other leg in strength sports and there function of body is considered quite completely with each movement modality, also individual variation is considered in movements like squat or deadlift. And this isn't occult science but everyone bit motivated in lifting should be able to think how their bodies move, what the weak points are and so on. quite generally to get stronger in squatting isn't only to squat more, there are corrective execrises. Be it good morning, belt squat, sissy squat, planks, nordic curls etc based on individual weak and strong points. In cycling this talk just doesn't happen, all the talk is of the legs. Muscle activation in pedaling motion is considered to be quite universal. And Martha Cavalli being one of the few people mentioning back and arms as important muscle for cycling performance is so interesting, given that she is quite slim i've pictured her to be 'i just ride my bike' kinda woman. How wrong i've been!
