@robpaxson4455 Just figured since they've been married since 1984. Wikipedia had him listed as one of her kids. Imdb said DeVaughn was born 1983. The next episode is of the 1984 Finals with Boston. So lots going on in norm's life at this point. LoL, Also didn't know Norm was an actor himself. He was in the movie, the fish that saved Pittsburgh. Underrated basketball movie from the 70s.

Not sure it's fair to say the Celtics kicked the Laker's asses, the series went 7 games with LA taking game 1 in the Boston Garden. Game 2 was in the grasp of the Lakers. They held a 2 point lead with only 20 seconds left on the clock. Magic made a rebound of Kevin McHale’s free throw miss and all he had to do was run out the clock. However, he called timeout. After the timeout, the Celtics face guarded the Lakers and caused a turnover. James Worthy’s pass was stolen by Gerald Henderson and he scored to tie the game. The Celtics won in OT 124-121. Magic and the Lakers were able to shrug off their Game Two blunders. They destroyed the Celtics 137-104 fueled by 51 fast break points in game 3. Bird called his teammates sissies. Game 4 was famous for McHale clotheslining Rambis and signaling that there weren't going to be any more layups. That game was also decided in OT 129-125. Back at the Garden for game 5, Bird was lights out, scoring 34 and grabbing 17 rebounds. In LA for game 6 Boston led by 6 at halftime but the Lakers rallied in the 2nd half to win 119-108. In the 7th game in Boston, the win was not locked up until Dennis Johnson stole the ball from Magic Johnson in the final minute with Boston winning 111-102. Boston won but it wasn't an ass-kicking.

I like how the Lakers felt even as a bigger failure after losing to the 76ers team that was basically the 1996 Bulls in that era, even after winning 2 titles in 3 years. That's what separates a dynasty from a 1 and done.

I see that the Los Angeles Lakers in the 1982-1983 season debuted the new Porter Basketball Backstop. The Porter Basketball Backstop connected to the backboard at three spots and not five which was the basket, and two on either side of the top of the backboard, with the standard breakaway baskets.

The Lakers were beating the 76's in every one of those games in 1983, but lost in the fourth quarter of each contest. The Lakers were expected to even the series, but Philadelphia blew them out in the fourth quarter of games three and four at the Forum. Instead of showing the 76's courage and determination, the Winning Time Series uses shortcuts to make it appear as though the Lakers never had the lead in any of those games..

It was big. It was a letdown if they didn't meet each other in the finals. It also felt like a racial thing to the country as well because Boston was mostly white and tried to slow it down while LA was mostly black and loved to run. The thing is Boston actually ran a lot because Bird and Parish were so good with the long passes off a rebound, but they were smart enough not to try to run with LA

This is the first time the show has come up short for me, it should've been at least a 9 episode season with one episode dealing with the LAL getting Worthy and losing to the finals to the Sixers with Moses Malone and another episode dealing with the 83-84 season up to the final with Boston and introducing Byron Scott, not just having an aside mentioning both guys in passing. Scott and Worthy were absolutely instrumental to the 3 rings the LAL won in the mid to late 80's. Worthy not Kareem was the LAL 2nd best player for at least their last 2 rings.
