Best day ever! I tried in this video to show what our One Wheel "walks" look like. For Winston, our 5+ year old Golden Retriever, this represents one of his absolute favorite things to do in his "whole wide world"! For me, I'm just grateful to have a dog that has become one of my best friends, and I'm thankful to Liz who found him and surprised me at Christmas 2014 with him--an amazing gift!l
He is pretty good off leash, but I carry one just in case he gets "hard of hearing" and stops responding to commands. You will see a few cuts (2 min 15 sec mark) where we pass a hiker and I need to circle back to get him moving again. If a hiker puts their hand out and calls to him, he will break out of his training and stop for some love. You'll notice that other distractions like attacks by yapper dogs (3 min 15 sec mark), or runners or bikers usually won't take him off task.
Our destination is a watering hole about 2.25 miles out (4 min 21 sec mark) and being a "water dog" Winston likes to get a drink and lay in the running water for a while to cool off and coat his underside with mud.
The opening scene of Winston running was taken at the end of a 5.5-mile run which is why his backend is covered in mud. :)
Our top speed in this video is about 16 miles an hour, but most of the time we run at about 8-11 mph.
This run starts by the La Canada High school/Hahamonga park and we usually hit top speed on Devils Gate Dam at the 3:08 mark, and you can see the JPL (Jet Propulsion Laboratory) to my left at 3:45. Incidentally, the large open areas to my left is where the various Mars rovers were tested.
LOL, while working on the edits for this video, Winston is hearing, through my PC speakers, my "clicks and calls" to him, combined with the whirr of my OneWheel 2 hp motor; he is dancing around and letting me know it's time to hit the trail --so it looks like we will be heading out...
Негізгі бет Winston's best day ever! Walking the Dog with my One Wheel...
