I so enjoyed this video. The winter snow, the shelter build, the enjoyment of a meal prepared by a friend, your gratitude, peacefulness, contentment…. And especially your sharing of scripture- which is the Source and key to ALL of it. Thank you, Doug. (New subscriber from central Indiana)

Nice shelter, Doug. It has a lot of potential. Since you left it up, there might be another video with it? Would’ve liked to have seen your sleeping arrangements. I do enjoy your scripture readings at the end. God Bless, my man!

I've been watching your videos, and like that you educate people with is the temperatures and wind and keeping worm with the right cloths . Also making simple dry shelters to get out of the elements . I watch a lot of Bushcraft and bush survival , and some of these shelters are built to live in . Making a quick small easy shelter is ideal. Is about how to survive in the shelter. And a lot of these you tubers are chopping down trees to build a house ! Your style Doug is about really surviving . Not crafting a shelter . Thank you for the good advice . I'm still watching your vids to catch up. Keep filming

Another interesting video Doug, TY. Though I too am a little confused. It appears you stayed out there all night ? Why don't you show us your setup , sleeping bags ? Etc Because i was cold just listening to the video. With everyone perishing outdoors, We need to see how you prepare yourself to survive all night like that. You obviously had protection on one side of you, what about the ends, and other side of tarp , weren't they all open to the cold wind All night Doug ? You must have been freezing, wete you able to keep that fire going all night long? I'm confused Doug. God . 🙏 Bless. From Big Jim New Hampshire USA aka Boston Strong

Excellent video. There are plenty of videos with someone explaining their actions and plenty that don't. I see your videos as encouragement for getting outside in solitude and enjoying the time alone. You don't need to explain anything more than you did. If viewers can't figure out how to build a shelter or fire, then there's plenty of videos available to teach them on KZitem already. Thanks for sharing, keep warm and safe.

Hi sir, In my humble opinion, living or being outside in extreme temperatures is not healthy. That's why we built closed houses and shelters. Take care of yourself!

I see you working around out there and now 6 inches of snow in the middle of January lol 30 years ago think about that I would’ve only been 1994. It’ll probably been a waste deep in snow and this project would not have been possible.

These winter campings are interesting, in reality, you’d better to creat heat fast and lots of it. If hypothermia beats you to it, you’re done.

it would have to be below 0F and I'd have to be staying there at least a week before I'd do eve 10% that much work. I just hang my hammock "aim" a Siberian fire lay at the clear PEVA taped across the open end of my reflectorized tyvek bivy and hang-out. Once every 3-4 hours, I"d have to move the logs further into the flames and once every 12 hours, I'd need more logs, IF it was that cold, which is not all that likely during the daytime. What you want is to stay warm with a sealed, small, reflective, insulated shelter and your clothing, not a fire. and you want to carry that shelter with you, so that you not only dont have to spend half a day or more creating one, you dont have to go back to it after traveling half a day. hunting or whatever.

It's an area where I can leave the shelter up as long as I want. So I may keep adding to it now and then, making improvements. Then it's a ready-made shelter I can use as needed.

Trying not to be critical but you need to explain what you’re doing because you hardly ever speak when you’re building a shelter and some of us would like to know why what you were doing

@@ourtechwriterI'm not sure why you had difficulty hearing anything above the fire. I was able to hear whatever he said throughout the video. Nothing against what you're suggesting, except that there's lots of videos about building shelters all over KZitem. There's even some on this channel that explains how to build a shelter. In my opinion, it appears the main principle of this video was to appreciate the solitude of being alone and with nature. A time to reflect and do something enjoyable. That doesn't need a lot of talk. I've watched videos on other channels where the builder didn't say a word because they didn't need to.
