I am a light olive skin tone, leaning cool, and pretty sure I'm a winter, but would love to know if I am a bright winter or deep winter, due to my dark brown eyes. I gravitate to bright/jewel tones, and neons. Would love to see an olive/ winter video with examples. Thanks so much ladies!

There are a lot of factors to be considered for a bright winter with a deep winter and a dark winter : skin texture (visual&physical texture) hair texture(straight, shiny hair reflex more light& curly, dry, texture hair less reflective), bone structure, how define or defuse facial features, facial space, and the visual weight of the face, also teeth whites will be another important factor too. However, some people have more than one dominant characteristic, they just to follow their heart for what made them feel confident. I’m a winter with light olive skin, blue black hair and very dark brown eyes (look like black)with 2 dominant characteristics: bright and deep and my style flow between classic to dynamic so I dress myself accordingly to my mood and the event. Hope it helps.

I have the same characteristics you described. I got my analysis done and was classified as a deep winter, leaning more towards bright than cool. So my main characteristic is depth, then brightness and coolness comes last. I was told I can wear wam tones as long as they are very deep, because that is my main characteristic. My “tell” was that once bright colors start going too light (like cyan or lemon yellow) they don’t look as good as the jewel tones you describe. I can also pull off warm and bright colors that aren’t too light as long as I do some make up to harmonize my natural coloring with the clothes, usually by adding depth to my face with a darker lipstick or eyeshadow.

Appreciate the clarity about white hair. I was confused by thinking I'm a summer. But muted shades look blah on me. You have said white hair is a winter. That's made choosing my clothes a whole lot easier. I hope it still stands as an older white haired too. Very often older women are told to wear soft, pastel shades as skin gets lighter too.

I have my Color Me Beautiful hard cover book from the 1980's. When I discovered I was a winter it changed everything for me. I am now salt and pepper and still wear my same beautiful colors with black being my favorite color❤

Im a winter and my fav colors are the icy pastels 😍 I didnt know they looked good until I purchased an icy tale sports bra that color gradients into icy purple cause I liked the colors and I discovered it looked so good on me, but also pure black looks really good on me! I dont like the emerald and jewel tones tho :( but I do like deep reds and blues

I always test as a winter (online) but my skin tans in summer and my dark brown hair sometimes has natural highlights that seem orangey. Also my eyes are dark brown but seem warmer (not violet). Dark winter colours do seem to suit me better. Basically I'm confused!

I'm similar! Most dark winter, but also dark autumn work well on me! I think it's tricky because most color analyst s say you're only one and the same your whole life but that is not a lot of people's experience with tanning and aging. I like that these presenters acknowledge that and allow space for it. I have decided to give up trying to fit in one and choose to create my own best colors palette. It means that not everything goes with everything in my wardrobe, but I don't care

my natural hair is a warm brown with even warmer and lighter highlights. i look awful in the colour orange. it is my worst colour. i also have hazel eyes. i’ve always found that darker and bluer colours match my skin much better. i have tried to go blonde but the warmth was terrible and medium contrast looks strange on me haha. so i would have had to bleach it many many times to a more pure white/platinum. i think im some kind of winter too. i also like to look at colour seasons as a spectrum so you could be more central as a winter meaning closer to a summer or you could even lean closer to autumn as a winter (if your subseasons are next to each other).

I love a good mother/daughter duo and you two are gems 💎! Will you two be digging deeper into the 12 or 16 season analysis? Back in the mid-1990’s I had an analysis and it focused on the 4 seasons. I recall being a winter but now I’m questioning that a bit. I’m clearly cool toned, but the winter colors that I shine in seem to fall in the icy category. I keep going back and forth between a true winter or a true summer. I’ve looked at celebrities and many with similar coloring to me tend to show in winter and summer depending on the analysis, like Liv Tyler, Caitriona Balfe and Anna Kendrick. My white hair is coming in white with a few strands of deep ashy browns. Any advice is helpful!

Yes, when I stopped coloring my hair, it was pure white. My eyes are olive green with tobacco colored spikes and my skin is between light beige and light olive. For a while I wondered about my season but because my hair was char black as a child and pure white as an adult, I figure I must be a Winter. I do wear some Autumn colors but NOT mustards and golds - same with Spring colors. I can also wear some Summer colors when my hair is gray. It's dark right now. Hmm, maybe I'm an eenie meenie minie mo season, lol.

So what color are u adding or subtracting when going from soft to vibrant? What if u look good in both summer and winter? What if u have Olive undertone with warm overtone?
@laurencooper3169

For summer it’s basicly adding grey tones to the winter pallet.

It’s not a color per se. Let’s say you start with vibrant. Vibrant colors are pure, pretty much strait off the color chart jewel tones. If you went to the art supply store they would be the primary and secondary colors minus orange, strait out of the tube. But to mute those colors you have to mix in white to get a tint or black to get a shade. So the muted summer palette has a lot of tints, the autumn palettes have a lot of shades. This is over- simplified but directionally correct.

I dont mean to be blowing up the comment section...i have been watching so many of your videos and i have determined that i am some type of winter (not sure which yet) because i need color saturation, light colors wash me out, and i have a slight warmth to my hair that i am going to be making more ashy, but then i think of some public figures that i believe are cool...but alsso have some warmth in the hair like Lisa Vanderpump or princess Kate and i get confused. They both seem to look best in cooler colors also, but have some warmth to the hair.

I would love to be typed! Historically I have dark brown hair with natural auburn highlights but has now started graying. I have a gray streak front and center! My skin has a rosy tint to it and I have bright green eyes. All of this sends mixed signals to me.

I got really confused when I heard about eye color. I consider myself deep winter, but my features are deep brown eyes and hair which look more golden when you look really close but overall all more like an espresso color. The difficulty is that warm brown make me look pale and cold colors make me look more alive. Is that a possibility that I am a deep winter or have I put myself into the wrong category?

I am a brown skin person with cool undertones. Unlike fair skin and very dark skin, it is a bit harder for me to fit into typical summer and winter palettes. Perhaps I am between the two where the two palettes overlap? So how do I find the right intensity of cool colour in that in between range? When I wear dark winter colours, I have to put some make up on - some lipstick or blush to compete with that intensity.

I was typed winter by house of color. My skin is fair and rosy (cool). But my hair is brown with gold and red highlights and my eyes are the amber hazel. Summer tones made me look dull. Warm colors are terrible on me. Not all the winter tones i feel are good on me. So now im thinking im neutral and dont really land anywhere. I gravitate toward neutral colors like black, charcoal, and navy. Also love wearing purple and deep teal.

Try the winter deep and autumn deep palettes. My hair colour and skin undertones are complicated, but I know I look better in deep colours and also muted colours. I believe I'm a winter deep (even though my hair is light...come at me, Color Class! 😂) and I can also wear a lot from deep autumn even though my skin tone leans cool. I look like a 5 year old in pastels! Although the muted, dusty neutral pinks and browns in the summer soft (I think it's soft?) are ok on me for a more delicate look or to act as neutrals against the deeper winter colours.

Thank you! I've been confused because of greying hair. I thought I was a winter, ive always gravitated to winter colours and had that deep brown Ash hair growing up. But I greyed prematurely. From a distance my hair looks grey but up close its as you say I have pure white hairs mixed in with my original deep brown Ash hairs, there's no in-between. I also have hazel eyes but they're weird 😂, they're grey-green with a hint of brown/gold around the pupil. I kept thinking they must be warm eyes but the grey would suggest not?

I am winter and as my hair is getting grey, I have colour which always fades to warm/copper colour which doesn’t suit me at all . What s your suggestion for winters who want to get their hair light brown or have light highlights? How can this be done without turning warm?

Ah that’s an easy one- speak to your colorist about cool shades. Also have you tried purple shampoo? L’oréal has a reasonably priced one. Also if you use a leave-in conditioner they have on Amazon, purple colorant that can be used to “tint” your leave in conditioner. Some high end companies make them- like Madison Reed but they are horribly expensive. Purple colorant will battle that brassiness.

I believe I'm winter I have light olive skin leaning towards cool it has more of a grayish cast except my face does have a lot of redness probably due to rosacea, my hair is a natural medium brown but when I was younger it had a lot of red in it. My hair is very fine always grew out dark but lightens really fast. Now that I'm older in my 50's it's turning white. My eyes are brown but around the rim of the brown part is violent blue color. So I believe that I'm a winter, I think when I was younger I may have been an autumn. The Mary Kay people in the 80's used to confuse me because one would say your definitely a winter & another would say your definitely a Fall. Which would you say by what I am describing.

I was surprise to hear you say that Carol Jackson told you that she gave the names of the 4 seasons only because it was prettier than saying 1 2 3 4. I have Carole Jackson first book - Color me beautiful - see page 38 , last paragraph...The Seasonal color theory was inspired by artist Johannes Itten. Read p.39 the four seasonal palettes as guides. There is a history of color analysis and several others before Carole Jackson have studied color. It date back to the 19th century, which colors were becoming. I am disappointed in hearing that When you spoke to Carole...she simply said I named my 4 palettes by season, because it was prettier or easier...I have studied the history of color and what you said that Carole said is not factual.
