This is the Wudang Qigong form taught by Master Yuan Xiu Gang at his school in China. It is called Five Animals Qigong (Wǔ xíng qìgōng) and in Chinese it is written - 武当五形气功。This is filmed in a winter snowstorm during my morning practice.
Qigong heats up the body quite a bit eventhough the movements are gentle and slow. It is a very different experience to train it in snowy winter conditions.
When training Qigong, focus on the stillness during each pose and breathe deeply to the belly (dantian) with diaphragm breathing. At the end of each pose, be still and breathe deeply examining your body for any tension that still exists and focus on relaxing that area.
I find that I can really “zone out” during practice and forget where I am. That is the whole point, to allow you to focus strictly on your body and let you mind relax and rest.
Feel free to follow along with the movements. When practicing on your own, try to do it 3 times on each side and breathe deeply 3 to 5 times when the posture is still during the movement and at the end of the movement.
