My wife (Taiwanese) and I (American) travelled the length and breadth of India over a 3 month period in 1983 and had the absolute time of our lives. It was our honeymoon and we still talk about it to this day. The amazing sights and sounds and the friendly people made the journey unforgettable. We stayed with a family in Goa for 3 weeks to catch our breath and had a wonderful time getting to know them. We were fortunate to ride on several steam locomotives before they were retired. The Taj, of course, was fantastic to see in person, but Ellora was the highlight for me.

How other nations got railway? Their main motive is to export loot
@matgranger5061
Жыл бұрын
Brits didn't do anything good in India. The railways were developed for their own interest to loot resources from India. The Indians were treated as 2nd class citizens in their own country. Initially, Indians were not even allowed to ride on trains. It was fully under the control of the British. They are so shameless that they keep flaunting looted Indian treasures in their museums as if they were their own.

15:44 A small correction on history of Shatabdi trains. Indian Railways had always had and still have and add more on a long list of improving services and introducing new trains and new routes. But the implementations goes as per budgeted allocations and many times by the whims and fancies politicians on board. The first Shatabdi was planned between Delhi and Kanpur. But this was changed to Delhi and Gwalior and then in due course later extended to Bhopal. Ultimately another train was introduced between Delhi and Kanpur. No prizes for guessing the name of the politician concerned Among the long list was also augmenting more trains between Chennai and Bangalore. Suddenly a VIP student wanted to attend medical college in Vellore travelling all the way from Bangalore and that too on daily basis. So the passengers were presented a fast train called the Lal Bagh Express leaving early morning from Bangalore, reaching Chennai by early afternoon and leave immediately for return journey to Bangalore by night. Needless to say the train had a convenient halts at Katpadi both ways to attend college at Vellore and return back

@gkrishnan4829

@@RohittKarwalYes, now I remember. Obviously railways didn't want to run a new prestigious train to shorter and low remuneration and shorter distance and so ran to Jhansi immediately for the time but had not fully planned the logistics to run to Bhopal. Railway plan was a daytime same day immediate return train for around 500 km distance.
