Nice work! I may use this soon to simulate Cat6 cables and RF cables. I'll also check out your free form FS.

Thanks, Ian! I hope you find it useful. You all must route a lot of wires.

Nice. But I'm sure if you can merge the freeform spline and wiring FS.....that would cut down the time and easier in creating wiring on heavy assemblies on the fly....

I see what you're getting at. When I first started writing features, I'd end up trying to combine functions that were related in my mind, but it makes the individual feature way more complex and less versatile. I use freeform a lot for surfacing, for example, and a wiring UI would just clutter up an already very full feature UI. My philosophy has shifted to designing features that are meant to be strung together. After all, that's the whole beauty of parametric CAD. With a pretty limited set of tools, you can open up infinite modeling possibilities. Each feature is essentially a little bundle of code that performs a function, and you, as the modeler, are essentially just "programming" your model with them. For that reason, I'm going to keep them separate, but since the code for both is publicly available, you or anyone are welcome to mash 'em up and remix them if you like. You could even just write a feature "wrapper" that calls my existing features inside of it, so you don't have to copy/paste any of my code.

@@ovyl yes keeping the spline seperate makes sense for using it for variety of uses. May be combining the two scripts at personal level would do.Thanks

So, there is more then one thing in onshape called Wire. How do I find yours without randomly installing the wrong extensions?

Also, I would recommend using an extension in combination with this called "freeform spline"

Also, thank you so much for making this :) It looks really good, can't wait to try it! :) (improvement suggestion, let us match colors to the new cable part using color from another part, or let us sepcify color using color hex code or color picker)

Thanks! The link to my wire feature is in the video description. Freeform Spline is also my feature, and they definitely play well together. I don't think I'll be adding custom colors to this feature since you can always just use onshape's native appearance tool for that or you can use my own Part Color feature, which takes HSL and hex code inputs. Adding colors that aren't in this list makes the color recognition on the tables hard, but if I keep to my list I can add the colors to that table. Here's a link to Part Color: ovyl.onshape.com/documents/d997b0ffc30f659113b10c00/v/662c5641b35c64e5f0555a40/e/a59f52547080e509330b02f7
