Man thank you so much for sharing all of your hard work! I'm a bit obsessed with 3d printers, CNC machines and robots at the moment, but haven't actually started dipping my toes in yet. If i go a bit further down the rabbit hole, an EDM machine would be one of the things I'd most like to make. Really appreciate your efforts and sharing, I'm subscribed obviously!

I've got mixed feelings about wire chopping. In practice I find it easier to just collect the continuous wire in a bin (forget about spooling it the second you're capable of cutting and rethreading it). Wire choppers make the waste material a lot more compact, but those tiny bits of wire have a tendency to get everywhere including inside the machinery, while continuous wire is much easier to clean up and dispose of. Occasionally you get tangles which you wouldn't get with a chopper, but they are easier to detect and dealt with. I work in a commercial environment and this is what we do. The bins need to be cleaned every other day, but in the long run it is less maintenance than dealing with millions of tiny wire fragments.

👌🏻👏🏻👏🏻 good work!, 10mm/min is a good initial velocity, i have already been told that it is a very boring process, but such a machine can do jobs that others machines cannot do (like your "subscribe") I am especially interested in the used wire collection system, since I simply use a bucket and an active collection is necessary, I make a wire cutting system and it worked, but I discarded it because the horrible noise it was making, the next thing I will try will be a low speed cutting system, but I remain attentive to all your advances and this one in particular, thank for sharing

Hello! Very interesting solution of machine kinematics👍 I had a question about the rigidity of the linear guides, when the portal parallel to the bracket "C" is in the middle, and the bracket itself is pushed forward to the maximum, is there enough rigidity so that the bracket does not fall down under its own weight and the string does not move away from the vertical axis?

I wonder if its possible to add "plunger adapter" to such wire edm, so that it can also "mill" metal with graphite electrode, it might be very useful for making precise molds by eroding metal with cnc milled graphite electrode - so that mo pressure is applied. Do you think it is possible with just say adding Z axis and connect controller output to brass electrode connection, or its totally undoable since it will require much more powerful arc generator/electronics? Thx

Why can't the wire be reused? I realise that it is probably eroded itself in the cutting process, but wouldn't that only result in a degraded cutting accuracy?
@marianodiaz461
4 жыл бұрын
If you see the used wire under a microscope , you will observe that it’s not round anymore , and if you re-use it you will have many problems , like wire breakage , and I can tell you that the time and effort of rethreading is not worth it , plus the loss of accuracy, You can re use the wire with molybdenum wire cutting machines , a process that uses a different type of machine that yes is faster , but much much rougher an less precise.
@stevetaylor5382

Its very acceptable for recycling.
@marianodiaz461
4 жыл бұрын
It’s acceptable for scrap recycling when it’s out , of the spool , I have seen 20kg $250 spools of new wire being scrapped because the wire was not properly winded, and it was breaking , Remember that these machines run without supervision, some times over all week ends , and there is nothing more frustrating that wire breakage , also in commercial machines , the used wire goes into a container , so it’s a total waste of time to re- use it , and in hobby machines , if the used wire goes into a spool to be reused , don’t forget that it’s broken in many places ... no , for the purpose of saving a few meters of wire , it’s not worth the trouble .I.M.H.O.

Not a full kit, but probably a kit of the most difficult part, the C-arc edm wire handling assembly. The rest is quite straightforward, so individuals with standard fabrication skills can tackle the rest and tailor the machine to their specific needs.

Why I'm not subscribing.. I got lost at you formula on planetary gear configuration on F360 that comes with a monthly membership. I have no clue nor I'll not spend time to try and comprehend what you said.... although it's a exelent engineering design from someone that is capable. Just to give you a perspective on my experience Yes I'll love to do all I see on KZitem but I'm like everyone else ... we get so overwhelmed on how to just 3D print a simple in memory boat ... then you spect me to suddenly start using F360 just like that when it cost so much.... MONTHLY I'm 53 and computers did not exist in my time and I also have 53 years of day dreaming on ideas to do but the tools that require to make such of thing it's just completed every knowing it's in most people's budget.... I, just like your 80k viewers enjoy your videos but in reality is more of a disappointment.... I live in Las Vegas .... who is going to have the patience to teach me anything and the few people I ask for help..... they just get technical about copy rights and they are on a personal project unless you pay a ridiculous amount for their help! you are on your own ... at least for me is the attitude I get .... So I have a question for you .... is this a personal project or did you do this in mind to help other on (I'll make your project) will your time and effort be enough to say (call me I'll build it for you) at what price? Will you help me build my bench top cnc that can cut metal? Not PC boards Aah almost everyone says (go here and get you PC boards for a dollar) so why would I buy a carving POS CNC when telling everyone to go away and buy a PC board for your projects Thank you for posting you videos Entertaining for me but not enough to subscribe. Honest criticism not trolling PS there's not a single person on KZitem that post videos to promote them self as (I will build it for you.) Then ALL cnc 30x30, 30x40 or what ever size they area are nothing more than a carving tool that will cost from $300.00 to $5000 just to carve wood or plastic, Pocket cnc it may have the right price but not in my budget and for what a tuna can size project. Really. Help me build my project you can even call it your project with your name on it ... I pay for material you provide the knowledge and you keep the videos. I'm not mad at you as my frustration shows .... just go to a local hobby store and ask how many certified preowned cnc or 3D printers do they have for sale and ask why so many.... answer! ... OVERWHELM buyers remorse?
