I’ve had the DJI Mic 2 for a few months not cause it works so well with either my mirrorless camera, or even my phone! I’ve watched a couple of these videos on this setup tho and just ordered myself an action 4. I’ll also vouch for Insta360’s cameras as well if you were ever wondering about them. Been running those for a couple of years and zero issues with any glitches, overheating, or footage loss. I think it’s great to see all these other action cam companies step up and be even better then the existing lead action cam brand has been for years!

Turn the gain down on the mic. That'll help with distortion.

Good video. The DJI setup is definitely a step toward simplification and quality too! You made mention of it in the video around the 21 minute mark and I agree, reduce your gain for the microphone input and your audio quality should improve. Maybe start at -6. You can always bring the level back up in post if it's not high enough. You might also experiment with noise cancelling to see if you can reduce background sounds in favor of your voice.

@@precipiceofgrindif you use noise cancelling, the chances are, you will lose the exhaust sound, making the video too sterile. We ride motorcycles to feel the wind, so when watching, we need the full experience. Nice video. I am still using an Osmo Action 3 with DJI mic adaptor and trying different mics. DJI’s lav mic is still too hot, distorting and clipping. I will eventually go for the OA4 and Mic 2, but need Adsense to pay out a bit more 😅. All the best.

I really enjoyed this since I was at my local store looking at a Hero to purchase and definitely will consider buying this. I would have loved seeing how you have this set up on your helmet or on the motorcycle. I also will look forward to comments regarding the setup up your using as your looking into the camera and sitting. Is it a specific device, stick tripod etc. Great video for me. Thanks

This is my first video of yours I've stumbled upon and I can't help but nod my head vigorously in agreement when talking about the issues you faced with GoPro. I bought my Hero 12 at the beginning of July and in less an a month had it overheat, have corrupted files, RARELY record audio (the adapter wasn't working with the media mod unbeknownst to me until time to edit! Ruined a couple of amazing videos I had filmed...) that's just too many issues with a BRAND NEW camera for me to be a satisfied customer. So I bought the DJI Mic 2 in an attempt to alleviate my audio issues and the GoPro won't connect to it (DJI says its GoPro's problem, GoPro says it's DJI's problem) sure I could just record separate audio from video but as you said, it's just a big time suck to sync the audio in post. Bought a DJI Osmo Action 4 and it is SO much better. My biggest gripe with GoPro is that just to change the (weak) batteries you have to unplug your lav mic, unscrew it from your mount, take it out of the media mod, replace the battery, and do everything all over again. The DJI battery not only lasts way longer, but changing it takes less than 5 minutes with its easier mounting system and no big bulky media mod in the way! I just got home from the craft store with magnetic tape to attach the Mic 2 to my helmet, my last few rides I just clipped it on the mic wire of my existing Cardo. I do worry about the adhesive on the magnetic tape myself, but I do have a chin curtain to catch it if it falls lol I know this video is a little older, but an audio engineer suggested adjusting the gain to -10dB and it won't be so peaky in post. I found that -10dB was perfect for myself, now I just have to denoise the wind only a little bit in post. Not sure if you've found your own perfect sweet spot with the gain on the Mic 2! (I also always say DGI lol)

To fix the mic falling out I just superglued the magnet it comes with to the inside of the helmet and the magnet's pull is way stronger than the magnetic tape

Hi, I would like to use the DJI Mic 2 for motovlogging, but I have a question. Do I just pair the transmitter (mic) with my Insta360 X4, and that's it, or do I also need to connect the DJI receiver to the X4? I read that you get worse audio quality without the receiver. Also, with the transmitter inside the helmet, would it be better to connect a lavalier mic to it? Thanks

If the mic is already on it will connect automatically with the camera once the camera is turned on. I usually keep the mic on and turn the camera off when I'm not filming for short periods.

@@precipiceofgrind So if I leave the mic on I can use the quick capture how many times I want and the takes will have the audio ok? Thanks for the answer, I'm leaving gopros and don't know much about Dji, with the GoPro I use this feature a lot. This setup looks perfect for motovloggers even in the rain!

Man I use the same camera and mic since 2019... what the hell are you talking about degrading?? The camera is always connected to a power bank and I shoot for the entire day of rideing when I'm traveling! I agree that going wireless is convenient, but come on... let's not exagerate! Just have to be a little carefull. Also, there's only 35-40 gr. difference between your current setup and the gopro one... so... Don't get me wrong, DJI has the best setupt for motovlogs right now, but the good parts stand for themselfs and there's no need to exagerate.
