That should be a 120v 20 amp receptical on the wall above the counter, but, you are correct about it being a possible problem with the wire running to it being too small.. Could solve that problem by using a GFCI outlet in the same box though..

Sorry if my explanation was confusing ... that receptacle is designed for 240 volts, you can tell a 240 volt receptacle because it accepts a plug with two horizontal blades. When I first moved in, I tested it and found 240 volts. When I removed the stove, I found what was shown in the video, which is that this outlet was just double-lugged on to the stove receptacle. The outlet was using cable rated for 20 amps, on a circuit whose breaker was 40 amps. Therefore, an overload condition on the outlet would burn the cable long before the breaker tripped. I removed the outlet and spackled over the spot on the wall. Even the range receptacle is gone now because we put in a gas range, so this spot now has a 120 volt outlet and a gas pipe.
