Hi, Great job, the van is really shaping up, you have done a thorough job of insulating, you and your family should be comfortable in any season, we'll be watching for more, thanks for sharing.Blessings! !!!!!!!

I agree and since this video is old now that you should always run your negative back to a common place. When you keep grounding to the chassis or frame, it does make a good ground but if you have electronics (radio, TV, etc) you will get a buzz interference once the wiring rests. Great job!

Looks good. Each to their own I suppose but wondering why you'd paint over the wooden Pine panelling? Looks nice as is with all the imperfections, grooves and notches.

What thickness off the ceiling / wall battens did you use?
@TeamNumpty72

Thanks for the great videos you are doing. I'm finding them really helpful on my Peugeot Boxer build. When you screwed the t&g I assume you just went through to the battens rather than self tapping into the body (thermal bridging) what size/type did you use? Keep up the good work.
@TheRestorationCouple

Yes all cladding, floor, and walls is fixed to the initial battens. It helps to minimise the thermal bridging to an extent but is just easier all round as you can use regular screws, nail gun, etc.

Hey man - loving the videos! Watched them all through to this point... Little confused how you were able to pull the cable through the holes you made in the roof cladding? Did you drill through into a rib and just pull them through the rib space (if so, isn't there insulation wool in there)? Or was there already conduit in the rib space here?
@TheRestorationCouple

Conduit throughout first.
@percy3815

The Restoration Couple awesome thank you! I guess this doubles down on the importance of planning out your wiring before you start (or just conduit every rib to give yourself options later down the line haha)

Im curious as to tung and groove strips used for roof panels, as I saw you using drill but not sure what you were doing? Drilling some strips together or attaching a few to roof strips of wood under where insulation is attaching to the van body? Sorry I’ve never attempted conversion or and construction so a bit clueless on methods.

Don't second guess running grounds back to the battery. This is the correct way to do it. It is only grounded to the chassis to cut cost.

I'll back that up. The point is: The chassis is the ground for the electric of the van. You want to have the electrics of the van and the one of camper totally seperated or you can run into difficulties. Believe me: been there - done that. Do I need to mention that it is a pain in the… well, you know where… when you need to run cables after everything else was built in?
@HeartPumper

Just to clarify for myself. Good practice is to actually separate negative circuits (the "inner" el. stuff between van itself)? How about appliances which are needing to be grounded?

you can buy a plastic draw wire which has an eye on one end to attach a cable to it. www.amazon.co.uk/DRAW-TAPE-fishing-cables-conduit/dp/B0040BE63M
