Awesome song ! Took them to college with me in '71 ! This will always be my favorite. College was in Macon, GA with The Allman Brothers when they lived there, fun memories.💖💞💕💞💕💖🎶🎸

I was given Wishbone Ash by a school friend to listen to in the early 70s. I liked it so much I bought Argus 'on-spec'. Nearly 50 years later I am still listening to them.

@John Durham Wishbone Ash were good, just not great. One of my first concerts were the Yardbirds. Beck I liked better than Page. I saw Hendrix a couple of times and I was taught guitar by Mr. Schmit. His son was Timothy B Schmit. I went to high school and played with Craig Chaquico and Reggie Knighton. (both on youtube) But Zappa would be at the top. Hendrix in the top 5. Michael Hedges would be in the top 5. But there would also be Al DeMeola, Eric Gillette, Steve Morse, John McLaughlin, Eric (my buddy) Johnson, Mike Keneally, Adrian Belew, Robert Fripp and may more.

Undoubtedly one of the greatest epic rock pieces of all time. It's amazing how it gets better each time they play it. It sounded brilliant when I heard it over forty years ago. I guess this is what our parents meant when they told us that the classics last forever.

January 7, 1973, ca. 7:15 PM I'm in my room at school, alone. I tuned to WMGM, Atlantic City. Low and behold, I hear this music... Wishbone Ash, "a thing called Phoenix" said the announcer after it was all done... recorded live at Memphis. I was sold, done, lost to it. I had taped about 3/4 of it and wore that cassette out. I kept it for a good 30 years. In the meanwhile, I acquired every piece of available vinyl I could get my hands on, and Wishbone Ash became part of my daily listening fare all through high school, and remains a favorite to this day. Nothing have they produced that is dated in any way, to my ears, the jazz roots always clear. As for this performance, who is the drummer? It's clearly not Steve Upton, who by the way is one of the greats IMO and greatly under recognized. I'd rate him the equal of Baker, Gordon, Chambers, Bruford, Peart, and so on, any day. The young lad looks a bit like Upton, which I find funny.

Caught them today on XM27 playing this song. Got to where I was going about half way thru the song. I sat in the car untill it was finished. I got home and You tubed them. I agree with Allan Gater that they are "Masters at Work" This 62 year old Bassist is loving it. You know I can't wait to pull out he fretless and learn this song at least. Going to get the Argus album and see if Ray Preddy is correct. GREAT!!!!!
