This resonates so deeply with me. I am a stone witch. I am strongly drawn to natural stones and have been offered many stones while living on my current property by the spirits of this land, several given with very clear intention which is "spoken" to me. As my home was being built, specifically just following the installation of insulation in the walls, I was offered 5 stones which spoke of love, health, happiness, peace, and prosperity. I was told to place them in my walls, which I did, and the energy in my home has been quite magickal. I have accomplished much here. And recently, I have been led to relocate to Portugal, and my current home will allow me to make this move financially. I will be traveling to Portugal next month to find my new home and have been offered 5 stones to bring with me to place on my new property there. I am so honored and grateful for the stone magick that is ever present and guiding during my time here. Thank you for your insights! I feel even more validated in my faith in stone magick after watching your video!

Thank you Arith I always find your videos very informative. Ringing rocks or bell rocks were used by the Xhosa and Khoesan in South Africa. Due to the high metal content of the rocks they produce a sound. These rocks are recognisable by the impact marks left by the former players. Their function is to work with rain, still used today by the 'Insimbi' ka Ntsikana. Rocks are vibratory. " Sound resides in the stillness of rocks"

This came up on my feed and I watched it on a whim. Often, I find videos with such titles to be superficial, but you impressed me! You mentioned one of my favorite quotes. Anthropologist Alfred Irving "Pete" Hallowell once asked an Ojibwa elder this: “Since stone are grammatically animate, I once asked an old man: Are all stones we see about us alive? He reflected for a long while and then replied, “No, but some are” (Hallowell 1960:43). Sincerely, your North American archaeologist friend, Christine VanPool, University of Missouri.

Is it necessary to cleanse a stone before using it, Or making it into a talisman?
@ArithHärger
9 ай бұрын
From experience, I do advise a cleansing, at least the first time taking it out of its environment, if you mean to keep it for future works. I also advise, if the stone (or any other thing) is only meant to be used on a particular work, do the work outside your residence and then return the stone (or other thing) to its place.

I am blessed to have been born in a mountainous area where quartz are other crystals are common enough, if you know where to look. Garnets especially are everywhere, laced in our river rocks. As for the act of making walking around certain locations, my family has always held the practice of “once the first snow falls for the year, take your shoes off and walk a circle around the house barefoot, and you’ll be protected from getting sick that winter”

We do bestow meaning upon objects. Music and art demonstrate this most to me. But clouds and puddles and mountain ranges do the same thing. I'm interested in exploring this more with the things that may have life. The movies "Shout" and "The Stone Tapes" (British) are based on random stones that have been imbued through the years.
@ArithHärger

I'll search for those and watch ^^ . . . meaning is very important, and it changes everything, especially the cognitive landscape. This is a fundamental aspect of human nature we have to keep in mind in order to see and understand the different realities of people's perceptions.

Thank you I always learn so much. I apologize for not being able to watch as often here of late, but I catch up as much as I can. Be sure I will always be watching when I can, but this year and all of 2024 I will be honest I am very involved with doing all I can to save my country from the evil that has grown so strong and trying to stop it, especially trying to stop a certain person from having power over my country again. I thank you to because when I have the time to catch up some, you help me remember the other part of me, that I have at times been forgetting and when I forget that part, the more important part, I let the fear of the future get in and that is not good. Lastly thank you for reminding me I have something that is powerful to me, the river and creek stones from back home, I know for me they hold more power then anything I can buy, they are a part of me unlike anything else, and they speak deeper than most other things. Many blessings to you 🙏 may you have peace and safety always 💖 thank you again 🙏

I lived around old cemeteries in the north east of the USA. Some of the grave markers were so old and worn that they could barely be read. Yet they each had a presence that felt different as though the grave markers were "marked" by their human.
@Trout_Nemesis

There are some cases where the stone seems to conspire against the civilization. 1) Each year the farmers in the north east pull massive piles of stones out of their fields. Without fail each year there are more stones. 2) Another interesting example comes from housing developments. The water table is shallow and the granite formation under the soil creates a lot of seasonal underground rivers. I had friends with basements that flooded each spring. All they could do was expect it and pump the water out each year.

Also here in Latvia, by the coast of the Baltic Sea, which was conquered by Germanic crusaders only in 11-12th centuries and, as a result, we still have strong pagan traditions, these stones are considered as having a special meaning. That is a very good video. All these modern books and channels for witchcraft forget about this. I always wondered who came up with a certain meaning of a stone? It is like the given meaning of a particular spirit animal. But it is us individually that we must find out the personal message. It is our instinct we must use for that, and if we only buy things and read the meaning written, then our instinct is like an outcast and we don't use it.

We all to a greater or lesser extent have to participate in the systems around us, but that doesn’t mean completely approving of them or regarding them as unproblematic. We can choose ethical ways to engage, as Arith has. Unrestrained capitalism sucks and has a lot of problems, but social consensus could be altered into a more ethical system if we continue to critique it and push for change. The connectivity of the Information Age has a lot of positives (wider transmission of knowledge) and negatives (e.g. far right manipulation of the populace) - usage and ideology really matter.
